*****TAYLOR
"Oh, baby girl, it is SO good to see you again," I exclaimed, as Brittany and I pulled back from a tight bear hug. "Come on in. Sit down."
Brittany had been in town for three days and had called to see if I would meet with her to talk about Bryce. I invited her to my office over at Crown Towers and she accepted. We both sat down on the plush white couch. After I had started working here, Messiah allowed me to redecorate the office I was going to be occupying. I chose solid colors such as white, black and brown. I must admit, I am a damned good decorator. Now, if I could only convince Messiah that I was a good architect, I would be set. Brittany looked around the room before bringing her eyes back to me.
"Damn, this is a nice setup, Taylor," she smiled. "This Messiah must be filthy rich."
I smirked, "Girl, try filthy, stinking rich," we both laughed. "But, he's not like most rich people. He's...different."
"How so?"
"He's sort of a recluse. I mean, he does the occasional social events or dinners, but he doesn't like the spotlight and he can't stand photographs."
"A man who don't like the spotlight," Brittany said out loud. "That is different. Most of the men I've known over the years were all about the spotlight. Shit, that's why I became a lesbian."
We both laughed again, as she looked down at my brown carpet. I stared at her, before clearing my throat.
"Still hurts, huh?"
She sighed, before looking back up at me.
"I honestly don't think it'll ever stop. My parents think that I am just supposed to get over it. They are still reeling from the fact that I am a lesbian, let alone the fact that I had my girl right there under their noses the entire time. That's another reason why I moved out here to Vegas."
"Yeah, Vegas is a city for new beginnings, but you gotta be careful not to get caught up in all the hype. These casinos, hotels and shows will have your ass broke if you let them," I said. "But, your reasons for being here will certainly keep you grounded. So...I guess we should finally talk about why you are here."
"Yes, we should. Again, I appreciate you agreeing to see me. I know you have a busy schedule here."
I scoffed, "Oh, girl, please. This is more important than arguing with some asshole about whether or not he should use stainless steel glass or fiber glass. Now, talk to me. Tell me what's going on with Bryce?"
"Well, from the moment I arrived, I noticed the complete overhaul of him. I mean, yes, he is in a wheelchair and his life has been changed. But, so has many of the people who were in Florida that weekend. I feel like Bryce has let this handicap enable him to become lazy and slack. And, that is not my brother, Taylor."
