"Well, take it from me, it can happen. I know from experience that love don't mean shit when your face is burning from a slap or your lip is busted from a fall against a dresser."
Messiah looked over at me quickly. "He hit you?"
"I don't want to talk about that right now. We are driving to my house in this beautiful car on a beautiful spring day. I just want to soak in the ambience."
"Okay," Messiah nodded his head. "But, one day you will tell me about it."
I sighed. "Okay," the music lowers as a cell phone ringing gets louder in the speakers of the car. "Is that your phone?"
Messiah puts his finger to his lips to tell me to be quiet as he answers the call.
"Mr. Crown, it's Denton. I was calling to let you know that everything has been arranged for tonight. Will you be bringing one guest or two?"
"Just one, Denton. Text me the address and make sure everything is well checked out beforehand."
"I will, sir," the deep voiced man answered.
Messiah pressed a button ending the call abruptly, as "Play Your Part" from the MMG PRESENTS: SELF MADE, VOL. 1 flooded the car. I smirked as I looked over at him. He was bobbing his head to the music completely oblivious to me staring at him. The way he talked to that man irked me. And, then this song...was the purpose of this track playing at this very moment? Is this his way of telling me to sit back, play my part and maybe he'll give me everything I need? Hell, no; not that again. I won't relive my past with Sincere through him. My thoughts were interrupted by another call. He pressed the button and a familiar voice filled the car.
"Messiah, I was wondering if I could accompany you tonight? I had so much fun the other night with you. It was one of the best times I've had."
Messiah looked like a deer caught in the headlights, as I stared at him. He kept his stoic expression as he stared straight ahead. He cleared his throat.
"Walter, I'm at the moment occupied. Can we talk about this later?"
"No, no; you can talk about this now," I interrupted, as he looked over at me. His expression was dangerous. I could tell he was angry that I butt in, but I didn't care. "Go on, Walter. What is it that you and Messiah did that was the best time of your life?"
