i sighed quietly as i changed the movie on netflix. it was prom night and i was here, by myself, while everyone else is having fun with their dates. i mean i guess i don't mind, maybe because a part of me always knew i'd end up here. like, my relationship with ki was way too good to be true. i wiped the tears out of my eyes and sniffled. it's gonna be a shitty night. i sniffled and dove my hand back into my bag of family sized chips. i was about to go to the kitchen, but i heard the doorbell and made my way back towards the living room.

i looked in the mirror as i fixed my tie. i stood up straight and smiled contently. ima go get by baby back. i walked downstairs and was heading to the door as i stopped and grabbed the white roses on the counter. i saw the figure of my dad was sitting on the couch in front of the tv with a beer by his side. i got closer and sighed because he was asleep. i touched the door handle and jiggled it as quietly as i could, i turned and watched to make sure he didn't wake up. i finally opened the door and walked out.

"i don't even have anything to wear!" i complained. 

"you would look good in a trash bag diego." i giggled and blushed slightly. 

"fiiine, i think i have a tux from my cousin's wedding, wait here." i smiled and headed upstairs.

i finished getting ready and stared at myself in the mirror. so maybe this isn't what i  thought was gonna happen tonight. maybe a part of me thought kimetrius would completely change his mind and choose me. i guess it was silly. i sighed and headed downstairs.

"steven! i'm ready, let's go." he smiled big, grabbed my hand, put the corset on my wrist and led me outside. he unlocked his car and opened the passenger door for me.

"your chariot awaits my lady." he said as he motioned toward the seat. i laughed and got in.

i walked up to the door and tried to shake off my nerves. "diego, i'm sorry, can i please take you to prom?" "may i please take you the prom?" "you, me, prom."  ew no. okay. okay. just knock. i took a deep breath and knocked in the door. i waited for a few minutes and smiled slightly as his mom opened the door. 

"hi ms.leanos, is diego home?" i asked her. 

she shook her head and sighed, "i'm sorry baby, diego left for prom a few minutes ago."

"oh, maybe i can still catch him." 

"mijo," she send as she put her hand on my shoulder, "he left with steven." 

my heart sank down to my stomach. i'm too late.
