Summary: The long waiting process of waiting for the new Super Smash Bros game is over and Peter and Grace are excited to play. So while preparing for their own little competition they get to admire the amazing game and discuss an old story.
Having a billionaire as a father is certainly a great thing at certain times. Having him when you only wanted to go to a simple restaurant for your birthday, but he insisted on going to a top-notch fancy restaurant was annoying. When you wanted to get the brand new Super Smash Bros the day it came out so you could play it all day before the competitions at school started, it was amazing. Especially when your dad wants only to make you happy so he will happily buy you every new game that comes out since normally they barely made a dent in his bank account.
That being said it is certainly amazing when Tony bought myself and Peter each a new smash bros game the instant it was out for pre-order, which led to us getting the game almost the second it came out. Immediately we got our switches and Peter and I set up camp in the living room, making it very clear that we wouldn't leave for a while. Junk food was on the table and Peter and I were nestled together on the couches with the game, now set up, in hand.
In the last game I had mained Pit.Yep, I main the angel that floats around annoying people with his bow. Gotta love Pit's range attack. Though he isn't one of the starters, so onto the quest to see if we could unlock as many of the characters as possible by the end of today while training to gain the skill with the new system. Whoever had more characters would plug their switch into the TV and we would play for another couple of hours.
The game itself was love at first sight. The graphics were amazing and the character designs were amazing as well. Going back to the earliest version I had played, which was Brawl, and comparing it to this would make it quite obvious how much the game changed. How much better this version is.
I personally hate using the word addicted to describe my relationship with something because it seems to put whatever it is into a bad light, but I was addicted to this game in a good way. With that being said we spent the entire day in the living room barely moving anything except our thumbs, eyes, and fingers in the process of trying to get all the characters. Pepper came in to scold us on not moving for 99% of the day. We both relied with some comment on how we technically were moving, just not a ton.
Chinese food appeared on the tables in the room sometime during the day. It was probably courtesy of Clint since he liked video games and knew that Chinese food was a food that wasn't hard to eat while not paying attention unless it was rice. I finally got Pit, though Peter always had to test out every individual character to figure out what his new main was going to be. Besides, he had to deal with failing miserably with a few characters while I got to train and learn the slightly different moves and controls that came with the new version.
Randomly Peter broke the silence that had stilled over the living room with the exception of the noises coming from the switches. "You know that prank not-really-prank that you pulled on me earlier this year?" I made a sound of acknowledgement though I wasn't sure which prank he was talking to me about. "The secret admirer one." He clarified, as if he could read my mind. "I was thinking. Thanks for that." I made a slight sound of confusion, tempted to take my eyes off my screen, but I couldn't afford to lose to this simple competition. Well, maybe I could afford to lose, but that wasn't important. "Those notes were adorable and made me look forward to going to school, even though Flash was being an extra big pain in the neck then."
That reasoning made sense. I hadn't known Flash was being a pain though. The only reason I had done the notes was because I thought it would be funny, but if I genuinely helped him then... that's great! Though, technically, according to Wikipedia, "A secret admirer is an individual who feels , or for another person without disclosing his or her identity to that person" (Wikipedia, Section 1). Taking that out of context, technically I am a person that loves another person and for a temporary period I didn't disclose my identity.
"You should have told me about Flash being an extra pain! Though, I guess if I helped you with the letters, even though they were a prank, then that's great!" I knew that Peter would never tell me Flash was being a pain unless one of two things happened. One, he was actually going too far with physically harming him. Two, Peter was at risk of revealing his superhero identity with whatever was happening. Pete is the most selfless person ever and would hate if I were to hurt Flash, which I would if he hurt Peter.
I practically heard him smile, "I love you, Pup." He said, in response to my words earlier. He had used one of his sillier nicknames for me which surprised me. I used nicknames much more often than he did, and even so, he didn't use Pup all that often. It was a reference to how one of my wolf forms I could take was one of a wolf pup.
"I love you too, Bambi." Another nickname I had for him, stolen for his curious nature and higher-pitched voice. He chuckled at the nickname and settled himself back to laying on the couch working hard at our little competition. "Oh, and by the way Pete. You're going down tonight." I couldn't allow him to forget how competitive I was when it came to this stuff. Him forgetting that would be horrid, since my competitive nature is one of the things that makes me, well, me.
"Sure I am." Peter replied with sarcasm I'm assuming he got from spending too much time in the lab with Tony. I smirked knowing he was totally going down.
