A/n: More swearing than normal : )

Summary: The twins live in a world where soulmates exist. Though there are laws on soulmates unlike any other place I've ever been.

Hey, my name's Grace Parker! I live with my Aunt May and my older brother by not too long Peter. I live in a world where soulmates are a thing, but not everyone has them. They are extremely rare, but if you have them they come with their own perks. How do you know who your soulmate is? Well, that's where this perk/ability thing comes in. If you have a soulmate a tattoo of the other person's ability will appear somewhere. For example, if a person has a soulmate with the ability to control lightning a little lightning tattoo might appear on their wrist of a lightning bolt. It's pretty cool!

There are some downsides though. The last major people to have the soulmate mark used their abilities for evil and tried to take over the world. Havoc reigned everywhere and there were too many casualties. The only way for them to be stopped was another pair of people with the soulmate mark. They came and after an epic battle with too many details to describe the battle was over, killing both pairs in the process. The reason I say pairs and not couples is because soulmates can be platonic like brother and sister or mentor mentee relationships.

Here's the thing though, having a soulmate is now illegal. Yep, the thing fate made to unite two people is banned. If you are discovered to have a soulmate not only do they find your soulmate, but they completely separate you two because as they say 'better safe than sorry.' If they can't keep you two apart you are locked up. All because of the one pair that tried to take over the world.

Now that I've explained you might ask 'why would you explain all that stuff to me?' Well, I woke up one freezing cold winter day in 9th grade. That sounds completely normal and not obvious at all, but if only. As I was getting ready I felt this weird itch on my upper arm. I pulled off my shirt in front of the mirror with an undershirt on. Tattooed on my upper arm was a large black spider. It's body was in the middle and it's legs circled my arm. I obviously hadn' done that myself which meant only one thing... I had a soulmate.

My first reaction was the obvious one. Asking the question, "Who was my soulmate and why did I have a spider?" Then came the next question, "What was my ability?" I had heard tales of where random things would happen to people, whether randomly a room lit on fire with the fire power, or if randomly you grew wings or something of the sort. Next came the final reaction, "Oh crap, this isn't good." Having soulmate stuff forbidden and all meant that I'm basically doomed.

I had thought of just turning myself in, but decided that wouldn't be the best idea. So I decided to hide it. I couldn't exactly hide it with foundation so that option was out. It seemed that the best option would just be to wear a sweatshirt, which I would have done anyways so I'm not sure why I was worried. I managed to hide it at school, though I could tell something was up with Peter. Living with him for my whole life has allowed me to pick up on his mood easily. At the time I had been a lot more pushy and would have immediately asked him to spill when I got home, had I not figured out what my ability was.

The instant I walked into my room I felt a splitting pain in my head and would have cried out if I hadn't fainted. I had woken up to Peter sitting next to me while I had been lying on my bed. Peter noticed I was awake almost immediately and instantly jumped from my chair and helped me into a seated position. "Grace, we have a lot to talk abut. Though you might want to see yourself first." I pulled out my phone and used the selfie camera to see myself. At the time I thought it was tricking me, but after a few minutes I had realized that my eyes really were yellow, I really did have wolf ears on top of my head, and I had a fluffy wolf tail.

"So, this is what my soulmate ability is." I had figured Peter already figured that out. The look on his face told me that my assumption was correct. I smiled knowing how epic this could be, though I wish I had known how dangerous it would make my life.
