I'd barely been at home five minutes when a text pinged through, and I almost barfed my orange juice at the name.your wet dream tan man: when can we have our first mountain biking session?
Oh gods, I'd said his tan was nice, hadn't I? Why had I done that!?? That had been such a mistake. I was never going to live that down. I grabbed my phone.
Kenzie: WHAT THE HELL IS THAT NAME
your wet dream tan man: You were the one who said it first....
Kenzie: I said you tan was nice. Not that it turned me on.
your wet dream tan man: ohkayyyy.... I believe you.... ;)
Kenzie: are you free next weekend?
your wet dream tan man: you want to see me shirtless again? thirsty
I facepalmed.
Kenzie: no, your mountain biking lessons, dumbass.
your wet dream tan man: mountain biking includes being shirtless, doesn't it?
Kenzie: oh my gods I'm giving up.
I shut off my phone and flopped face first onto my bed.

I didn't check his text until just before dinner, reading:
your wet dream tan man: I'm free this Saturday. Text me your address and I'll pick you up.
Ok. Only five days of work to live through, (I'd got a summer job to help pay for my college fees) then I'd be away mountain biking.

I met up with my friends on Monday evening, ready for a post-lake gossip session. They all looked about as pleased with themselves as I did, and so I judged that their camping experiences had been as good as mine.
"Kenzie! There you are. We all realised we hadn't seen you since Saturday evening, we thought you might've died!"
I laughed, dumping my phone on the table and slipping into the booth beside Stella.
"You lazy gals were just so hungover you didn't wake up until after I'd left!"
"But you were ok that night, you found somewhere to sleep?" Stella looked surprisingly ashamed, and I realised she might be feeling guilty for the way they'd all dumped me that night.
"It was fine," I said, smiling, "I swam over to the island and slept there."
"Weren't you lonely?" asked Sarah.
"No actually, Noah came with me."
There was shocked silence from all three of my friends.
"YOU AND NOAH ARMSTRONG SPENT A NIGHT ON AN ISLAND ALONE TOGETHER!!!"
Well, the silence lasted all of three seconds.
"It wasn't anything romantic," I protested, "we're just friends!"
They all gave me disapproving looks.
Thankfully, I was saved from having to explain things further by my phone pinging a text through.
Or rather, not thankfully.
Stella grabbed my phone before I could stop her. Her eyes nearly bugged out of her head.
"Kenzie... who is this? What are they doing to you? Are you... safe?"
I thought I could guess who the text was from.
Stella slid the phone over to me, and I quickly read the text.
your wet dream tan man: ok, see you saturday ;)
I groaned. "It's just Noah. He inputted his own contact into my phone and I haven't got round to changing it yet."
There was another stunned silence.
"Can we get this straight," said Aliya, "Noah Armstrong put his own number onto your phone, under the name your wet dream tan man?"
I felt myself blushing. "Ok, so I accidentally mentioned that his tan was nice at some point, and because he's an egotistical asshole he decided to put that as his name."
"What I want to know," said Sarah with an evil smirk, "is what just friends Kenzie and Noah are doing on Saturday."
"We're going mountain biking!" I protested, but they all just shook their heads.
"Just friends indeed," said Stella with a smirk.
"Remind me why I have you guys," I moaned, throwing up my hands in despair.

My parents, thankfully, weren't at all fazed by the fact I was going off mountain biking with a random boy that weekend. They were good parents, they merely made sure that I took some lunch and wished me on my way.
So on Friday night, I gathered my stuff and texted Noah to pick me up at half nine.
a/n: sorry guys, I know that was mostly filler... the next chapter will be better, I promise! (I hope)
Anyway, how are you guys' lives? I fell off my mountain bike and now my back hurts. Yippee. Still, it's an excuse to spend more time on wattpad. *Parents appear out of nowhere* cAssie arE yOu oN wAttpaD aGian??
