Steven and Morganite slowly rose from the drab dirt of the Kindergarten. Amethyst, Garnet, and Pearl looked over at both of them, and looked down at the bubble Morganite was holding. The gem inside was tinted from the pink of the bubble, but you could still see the vividly dark blue color of it. The mellow light of the bubble dimly shown through the end of the small Kindergarten. Morganite was careful not to pop the bubble as she held it delicately in her hands.
"Is that her?" Pearl asked. "Her gem looks very enchanting,"
"Yes," Morganite answered, smiling and tearing up. "I haven't seen her in thousands of years, and I didn't even know it." Morganite looked up as the smile disappeared from her face. "I can't release her here though,"
"Why not, we've been on this little journey for forever, can't we just see her now," Amethyst asked impatiently.
"Oh, if only you knew Maxixe," Morganite said, putting a hand against her cheek. "she's a little, hmm, let's just say skittish."
"Skittish how?" Garnet asked.
"You know, I can never say for sure. She was always kind of standoffish that way. The Maxixe I knew never really admitted much in the sense of just talking." Morganite took her hand away from her cheek, and back on the bubble.
"Well, when do you want to un-bubble her?" Pearl asked.
"Not here," She said, looking around.
"We c-can do it back at m-my house," Steven stuttered, trying to level himself. His legs were still shaky and numb from warping, but he attempted to walk again. He failed and ended up falling flat on his face, still twitching from the buzz of electricity.
"I'll get him," Pearl offered. She picked up Steven by his legs and back, and cradled him into her arms. She wrapped the cloak around him so he could be warm and comfortable. He thought of it as more disconcerting than Garnet's piggy back ride, but he was too tired to complain. All he could do was give a distressing look, and not say anything.
"Ok, we'll go back to your house, and un-bubble her there, is that ok?" Morganite asked.
"That's fine by me," Garnet confirmed.
"Great, but we're going to have to take the old Warp Pad again," Morganite looked at Steven who was nestled in Pearl's arms, and gave them an awkward look. "But we're going to have to do it my way again,"
"Are you kidding me?" Pearl disputed. "There's now way we're letting Steven back through that old rusted-"
"Pearl, you're stressed out I understand," Morganite said calmly. "But you realize that the old Warp Pad is the only way we got here in the first place, right?"
Pearl shot an angry, agitated face at her, but didn't say anything. Instead, she started to march through the Kindergarten with Steven in her hands. Garnet and Amethyst followed behind her while Morganite gave Pearl a smug look she couldn't see. She followed up behind them, walking beside the jagged, dark holes of the failed fusionites.
As they walked through the desolate Kindergarten, Steven noticed a small structure perched by a large, irregular hole. The small, box like structure had glass all around is that looked to be shattered by force. It bent and leaned one way, making it look unstable. The inside was too dark to see through, making it look eerie. Steven pointed at the box structure and asked, "What's that over there?"
Morganite and the other gems glanced over at the rusted, broken down structure. Morganite shrugged, "It's just an old lab gems used to record and test experiments. That's probably where they kept the substances to create fusionites. This place was too small to house Injectors, so they injected everything manually. Maybe that's why they shut down this place."
