A soft, faint ringing can be heard echoing in one's ears. The ringing turns into foggy words as they slowly start coming together. They build upon one another, until it finally came together to form full words, into full sentences.

"She is coming together perfectly." A voice said, finally cleared of the ringing.

Steven Universe finally opened his eyes while gasping. He found himself floating weightlessly in pure darkness. It was so dark, it was like being in the back of your mind, where no one, not even you, would be inquisitive enough to see what lies there. Perhaps a dream, a nightmare, untold truths, or heart wrenching lies. Steven drifted in place in the dark, wondering what he was doing here, and why.

He heard the voice again, "She is coming to, my sovereign one." The feminine voice sounded powerful and soothing, like the calm after a storm. "She is perfect." She said.

Steven squinted and blinked several times. He reopened them to find himself standing on gray. Everything around him was gray, it wasn't bright, but it was light enough to see the silhouette of the disembodied voice. He was standing face to face with what looked like a living shadow. She stood slightly bent down to be eye to eye with him. Then, she stood tall again in a relaxed stance. There was enough outlined detail on the dark figure to see that she had hair reaching her shoulders and a helm that looked closer to a crown. Steven looked into the white circles that stood in place of her eyes as the shadow stood over him.

"What is this? Where am I? Who are you?" Steven blurted out in a panic-stricken mode.

"Now, now my Angel, perfect is no word we use." Said another voice. The female voice was cooler and more consoling than the silhouette before him. "It is a word used by some to say that others will never be good enough, or even to say that they are done. But you, my little one, are just beginning."

Steven felt himself being lifted up steadily in the air. He looked down to see two enormous shadowed hands hoist him up to the level of the other voice. She was Gigantic. Her dark shape portrayed she had long wavy hair, a dress going down to her feet, and a crown worthy of a regal. When Steven looked into the white eyes of the giant, he could see warmth and compassion fluttering out of her pupil-less eyes. Steven just stood there in wonderment before the contour.

"Oh, my precious little Jewel," Said the giantess. "Don't listen to what the others tell you. You shall be the spark of a new generation in these foreboding times. At least now I know I can hope for the best, because of you." She moved her hands a little closer to her face to see Steven a little more. "You will be my benevolent successor." The shadow said warmly. "I want you to be the one to see the beauty in everything. I need you to see whatever lies ahead for what it truly is, and what it can be. No matter how grim the situation may be, you will be the one to gleam the brightest through it all."

Steven looked lost. He had no idea what reason he could be here for. He looked into her white, caring eyes and said, "I don't understand. What do you mean 'benevolent successor'?"

"You will see," The contour said. "I just need you remember one thing," Steven leaned in closer, staring at her in awe as she spoke, "Never forget who you are, or where you come from. Never forget what you leave behind, or else my Jewel, it will fester and consume you, and everything you love."

Steven paused a moment. He didn't know what she meant specifically, but for some reason, he understood. Steven wanted to hear more, but he found himself drifting away from both of the silhouettes. He didn't want to leave, he needed more answers. "Wait, please wait! What am I supposed to remember? I don't even know who you are!" He shouted.
