Today was such a nice day out and the weekend was meant to be enjoyed. You dressed yourself in preparation for a day of wandering through the city streets. You had been busy the whole week and had barely even seen daylight. You went to work before dawn and returned home after sunset. The crazy amount of paperwork you had to manage barely left you any time to breathe. Once the hectic week had finished, you were finally free to roam.

You decided to walk through the touristy sites of the busy city since that's where all the commotion was and where all the events happened.

The main street was lined with stores and restaurants where people were enjoying their Saturday shopping or eating. You enjoyed people-watching since the city was inhabited by all kinds of different characters. You passed young families, old couples, and even teenagers hanging out with friends. The city was bustling with activity and you enjoyed having the sun shine upon your face. Gone away was the depressing winter season and spring was slowly making its way back to make the flowers bloom and the birds chirp.

You turned a corner and suddenly heard strong hip hop beats bumping from a speaker. A D.J. stand was set up and the guy was dropping some serious tunes. You stood among the crowd gathered in front of the music man to appreciate the rhythm pulsing through your ears. One guy started to clap along and got the rest of the crowd hyped up too.

Encouraged by the audience, the same guy began to bounce around and dance to the music. It was simple at first, he just swung his hips and clapped. As time went on, however, his dancing became more complex and difficult. People started taking out their phones and filming the guy. He was insanely talented and he immediately put a smile on my face with his attitude.

When the song came to an end, the dancer was sweating profusely and the D.J. decided to take a break. The crowd dispersed, but you stayed and offered the stranger a water bottle you had yet to touch.

"Hey, great job man, you're really talented." You hand him the water and he gratefully accepts.

He chugs it down and finally looks at you. "Thanks, dancing's a passion of mine. People actually call me J-Hope - it's my stage name."

"J-Hope? What's that stand for?"

"Well... my name's actually Jung Hoseok so that's where the J comes from, but I like to think I could someday give people hope with my music and dancing. My goal is to make people at least a little bit happier and give them hope for a better time."

You smile at his explanation, what a sweet guy. "I'm sure you're just a ray of sunshine in the darkness J-Hope."

He chuckles, "Thanks... what's your name?"

"Y/n." You liked this guy's perspective on life, therefore, you are prompted to ask him if he wanted to hang out today. "So, I know we just met, but are you hungry? I'm starving and after all that exercise you need to keep up your energy. You wanna go eat some food with me?"

"Really? Of course! I know this great restaurant just up the street with the best kimchi."

"I love kimchi." You state.

He smiles at you and leads you towards the restaurant. When you walk in, the smell of onions and garlic hit your nose.

"Mm, smells authentic."

"It's absolutely amazing." Hoseok went up to the hostess and you were guided to your table.

"Can I get you anything to drink before your meals?"

You ask for water and Hoseok immediately asks for Sprite.

As the waitress walks away, you open your menu and stare cluelessly at the dishes before asking Hoseok what to get.

"How about we share a big bowl of kimchi fried rice with some chicken?"

"Whatever you say my hope."

He giggles at that and says, "I'm your hope, I'm your angel," and flaps his hands resembling little angel wings.

You laugh, "You're too cute."

Hoseok's face heats up a little, but once the food is ordered and delivered, you both forget about everything else but the meal in front of you. Conversation is forgotten as you both inhale the plates in front of you.

Once the last grain of rice is gone, you sink into your chair and sigh, "That was the best thing I have ever eaten in my whole life."

Hoseok laughed, "I told you it was good."

The waitress came by to check on the both of you and had the nerve to ask you if you wanted dessert. You and Hoseok made eye contact and immediately nodded your heads yes.

"You know Y/n, dessert goes to the heart, not the stomach."

"I agree with you 100%, how about we get the chocolate cake with ice cream then."

He nodded and you let the waitress know what you wanted.

"I'm so glad we did this today J-Hope, you made me really happy. You feel like a piece of peace in this crazy world."

"You have no idea how much that means to me Y/n."

"What can I say, it's the truth." You smiled and started bouncing in your seat when you saw the dessert arriving.

The cake was a-maz-ing. It was gone in two minutes as you both devoured it.

Not long after, you both settled the bill and headed out to the streets once again. You noticed it had gotten dark while you two were inside.

"The city looks so pretty at night. All the lights shine and the streets settle down." You commented as you and Hoseok took a stroll.

"Yeah, I miss going out like this. I'm always too busy to appreciate much of anything."

"What do you do for work? If you don't mind me asking."

"I'm in the entertainment business, I'm a performer."

"Wow, no wonder you looked like a pro before." It all made sense now.

"Yeah, but that was just for fun. I normally have to follow really strict choreographies that leave no time for free-styling."

"You must be very dedicated to keep up with all that dancing."

He grinned, "I try my best. I wouldn't be where I am without my group members though. We encourage each other through thick and thin."

"You guys must be very close."

"Yeah, they're my best friends."

You were enjoying Hoseok's company, but when you looked at your watch you noticed it was almost ten o'clock and you'd been bothering him the whole day.

You turned to him to apologize, "I'm so sorry, I just noticed how late it was, you must need to be doing other things. It's best if we say goodbye now."

He chuckled, "Don't worry about it, I usually go with the flow and today was my day off anyway. I had a lot of fun with you Y/n. Maybe we can see each other some other time."

You smile, "Of course," you take out a pen and write your number on a scrap of paper, "text me anytime."

He surprised you when he wrapped his hands around you and gave you a hug. "It was nice meeting you, maybe next time we could get some brunch or something."

You both parted ways and you were left thinking about your lovely hope - J-Hope.
