"Dad," I took his worn downed appearance in, sighing at fact that I actually missed the man.
Our eyes went to war for a hot minute before my wife's delicate touch distracted me. My focus was immediately on her, she had a hand over her belly and a pout on her puffy lips.
"Please, come in, Mr. Matthew," Nika welcomed.
He cleared his throat and took his glasses off before grabbing my shoulder to pull me in for a much needed hug.
My guard was shot down, I refused to fight it anymore. My anger had expired, I was more worried about my father and his well-being than anything.
Not caring about the tan colored paint on my hands, I hugged my daddy back. My head rested on his shoulders as he soothed me, "never again!"
"Yes sir...."
I took a deep breath and pulled away, he stepped passed the threshold and I locked the door behind him. He hugged and kissed Nika before advancing towards the sectional a few feet away.
"I will personally handle you next time, Giselle."
My courage was back, I scratched my neck and turned around toward the two. "The way Onika fucked me up, I think she covered it for you. I'm sorry, pops....I was just so confused I didn't know what or how to feel."
"I understand that, and for that, I'm here to explain everything I should've told you from the get go."
Onika walked toward me, placing a kiss on my lips. I kissed her back, not wanting her to go anywhere just yet.
"Nika, you're needed."
My wife went through various emotions, the moment Mr. Matthew sat down and began to take us on the roller coaster ride of our love story."That baby wasn't meant to live on this earth, Ju. There's been a curse and deep rooted hex on every being that has mistreated you since your mother's transcending to the other side."
Bey's hand squeezed mine, I knew it was a cue to her nearing her wits end. I squeezed back, rubbing my thumb back on forth on her knuckles.
"What did our child have to do with anything!?"
"Watch your tone, babe. That's still your father," I politely reminded her, staying in the shadows of their conversation. There wasn't much for me to say, I hadn't heard the full story, my judgement was going to be precipitate if I were to speak now.
"I'm sorry, pop....I'm just...I can't wrap my head around this."
Matthew nodded, a deep frown sat on his face. Behind the slight wrinkles in his skin were understanding and wisdom, I admired a real man when I saw one, which is why Matthew Knowles held a different place in my heart.
