• Kallie's Point of View •
"Ugh I can't believe he showed up here! Of all the places in L.A. and he chooses here." Mark says slamming the drivers side door.
"Forget about it, I had a great time, we can just go back to my place and watch a movie or something." I said trying to make him feel better as I hopped into the passenger side.
"How can I forget about it. That guy made my life a living hell. Maybe I should go back and give him a piece of my mind." his face started to turn red with anger.
"NO!" Lux and I both said simultaneously.
"Alright alright. I need music to calm me down." He said flicking on the radio.
We soon pulled into a gas station. "Sorry but I'm almost on empty." Mark half laughed.
"I told you to fill up the other day." Lux said rolling her eyes.
"Yeah well I forgot." he said rolling his eyes back at her. I laughed at how they acted like an old married couple.
"I'm going to get some snacks for tonight." I said hopping out.
"I'm coming." Lux smiled.
We were soon back with two bags of chips, a bag of sour candy and a bottle of coke.
"Want anything?" I asked as we started back into the road.
"Hell yeah! Mmm... give me some of the salt and vinegar chips." Lux said.
I opened the bag and immediately the aroma of vinegar filled the car. I took a handful before handing the bag to Lux.
"Oops." I said as a couple of chips went onto the floor as we hit a bump.
"Careful." Mark said. It was his parents car, and let's just say they're pretty strict.
"Sorry." I said leaning down to pick them up.
"Here I don't want anymore." Lux said chucking the bag.
"Come on." Mark said annoyed. Out of the corner of my eye I saw him turn around to say something to Lux, but that's when it happened. First I heard Lux scream, then Mark, then I felt a sharp pain in my head that slowly travel throughout my body. My vision became blurry even when I did my best to blink it away. Then I realized I couldn't move. Why can't I move. Oh my god and I dying?! The pain grew stronger and stronger. I wanted to scream but nothing came out no matter how hard I tried. My eyes began to feel heavy. I've seen this on medical shows before. Don't close your eyes Kallie, keep them open. Come on you can do it. You can... well maybe if I just shut them for a quick moment. Then came the silence and everything went dark.
The darkness came and went so fast that it felt like I only blinked, but immediately I could tell something was different. A piercing loud noise soon followed. Sirens. I picked myself off the wet pavement, but I wasn't wet. What is going on? Why am I not wet, or cold, or warm. Then I saw Marks car. The whole front end was crunched in. "Mark? Lux?" I yelled as I ran over to the vehicle. Lux was standing next to the car crying and the police were helping Mark, it looks like he might have a broken arm. "Lux its okay. We're all fine." I said putting my hand on her shoulder, but nothing happened. My hand was on her shoulder but she didn't move, she didn't even turn to look at me. "Lux?" I said waving my hand in front of her face and then again, nothing. What the hell. This must be a dream or a sick joke. Come on Kallie wake up. I tried hitting my forehead. Nothing. I tried pinching myself. Still nothing.
Then I saw it, or rather me. Being rolled over to the ambulance. I had an oxygen mask over my face and the doctors looked very concerned. Am I dead? I can't be dead. I have an oxygen mask on, so I must be breathing. I put my hand over my heart and sure enough there was a slow but intense beat. I ran over to the stretcher.
"Is she okay?" a voice came from behind me. "Oh my god it's her!" I turned around to see him. Cameron. "Is she okay?"
"I'm sorry sir, but we need to go be checked out with the other doctors." one of the paramedics said.
"No, I'm fine. I just want to know what happened? Is she going to be okay?" He said frantically. I wanted to scream that I was okay. That I'm right here. But he can't even see me.
"Sir, please we need to go now. Are you her boyfriend?" The paramedic questioned.
"No but that still doesn't answer my question." he said suddenly grabbing my hand. I got so excited until I realized I felt nothing. Nothing. I began to cry harder. I just want to feel something. Anything. Even pain.
"Sorry sir we have to go now, and to answer your question, we don't know. she's had severe trauma to her head." My head?
I ran over to Mark's car. I looked into the side I was sitting. There was a massive dent in the dashboard. I began to remember what happened before, how I was leaning down. The paramedics were just finishing putting me into the back over the ambulance. I ran over and got in just before they shut the doors. I sat down beside my still body. I saw my chest rise up and down reassuring me that I'm not dead.
"Yeah we have a nineteen year old, female. Major trauma to the head and neck. We're going to need the operating room stat." one of the paramedics said. She was pretty, Id say she was in her early thirties. I looked over and noticed she was holding my hand. "It's going to be okay honey, just hang on. You're going to be fine." she said it as though she was trying to convince herself of that.
"Thanks." I said even though she can't hear me, but it felt right.
