The day felt different. I was calm for the first time in a long time. I was already on the rooftop as I had been since the school day had began, no one was going to get here before me.The lunch bell signalled it had finished and students began to walk back to their classes. I remained on the rooftop.
I removed my shoes and sat them facing the edge before placing a note I had written in my left shoe. It was addressed to the boy I had cried to the week previous.
I thought back to my father, he wasn't a person anymore; a shell of who he use to be. I had no friends, no one stayed in touch from middle school and I had no friends at my previous school.
I slowly stepped over the railing and held tightly on.
I inhaled deeply and stared back at the roof before smiling slightly. No tears fell this time. My decision was made. I felt calm and certain.
I think i'm ready to be one of the stars, ready to be free. With one last breathe I released my grip and felt the wind through my hair.
I'll see you soon mum
