The parakeets Sam and Abagail, and the owner thinks there will never be anything, but useless eggs, Abagail eventually has twelve eggs at once.  This is amazing as it is the most she has ever had at one time.  It is a first for her.
Time to check the eggs again, so the owner puts on gloves, carefully removes all dozen eggs from the cage and takes them along with a flashlight to a dark, bathroom, and closes the door. This works best if the room is not lite. Not sure why it just does that is all.
First egg, empty, second egg same, third egg same, then egg four fertile, and same with eggs five, six, seven, eight, nine, and ten, then eggs eleven twelve, empty.  Wow, this is amazing there is eight fertile eggs!  This means eight possible bird babies to be born!  Yes, the owner is so happy for her pet parakeets, Sam and Abagail are soon to be parents!
She double-checks one egg, and feels a tear form in her eyes. The baby bird is dead inside the egg. Awe, the poor thing, she thinks. She throws this egg away along with the three empty eggs.

The other seven eggs she puts back into the cage so the momma bird can sit on them. Now, it is just time to sit back wait and see what happens with the other eggs.
