Dear Panem,
Disaster is about to hit our nation. Not a tornado, not a fire, not a tsunami, but instead, a war. A war that this very place has gone through before. A war that did not give us what we had asked for, rather receiving all that we had hoped will not come to haunt us and torture us for years to come. Decades later, we feel we have endured enough suffering, and now it is time for those who claim to be higher in power, when really, we are the ones who are running the nation, while they just sit down and wait for materialistic goods to be brought them, which they all take advantage of.
Despite being from District 4; a district that claims less tesserae and receiving a lot more than most, I, like the majority of those in my district, and all of the other districts, have grown tired and frustrated from all that the Capitol has put us under ever since the uprising of Panem.
I can speak for virtually everyone in the districts that we are hard-working individuals who put in as much effort as we can to provide for the Capitol, expecting something in return, yet receiving nothing. Despite the strong pain endured from this unfair trade, we have begun to grow numb to it from how long we have had to suffer, from starvation to diseases caused by poor hygiene. These are all deaths and illnesses which can be prevented in a snap, if only the Capitol, those who are supposed to care for the districts didn't ignore us and leave us to bleed eternally from the wounds they have caused. Instead, we are given the Hunger Games, which really doesn't need an explanation, and heartless, soulless peacekeepers who are ironically the ones who steal the peace from Panem.
We in District 4 are tired of swimming through rivers and lakes just to find fish that we cannot even use for ourselves. I am almost certain that it is no different in District 3, making it easier for everyone to keep in contact with one another, except for those in the outer districts. Do you think anyone in District 10 has used a telephone before? Speaking of 10, aren't they the ones who provide the delicious beef that the Capitol consume every day? Ask someone in District 10 what they think of the beef. I can guarantee you'll not get an answer other than, "I don't know. I've never tried it." I highly doubt that there was one day in District 11 where one of the citizens was not whipped just for eating a single grape to break out of their poverty cycle.
It is time for the Capitol to realise what they have been doing to the districts all of these years, and that we have had enough! We are human beings too, and it is about time we receive the dignity that a human being deserves.
Antaeus.
