Dear Panem,
In particular, the Capitol. I want everyone there to look at what you are wearing today. Whether it'd be a fluffy pink dress; over-styled wigs in extraordinary colors; 12-inch heels; overpriced suits and ties made of polyester and other such fabrics. Whatever it may be, I just want everyone in the Capitol, from President Snow to the escorts of Districts 10-12 to think for just 2 minutes; who are the ones that are making you look elegant day and night with your costume-like outfits? It's too bad that these people can't make you just as beautiful on the inside, though.
Now, the Capitol can obviously argue that their inner beauty is just as prevalent as it is on the outside. However, if that were true, then why are they allowed to wear the most ravishing and over-priced clothing, while those in District 8, who work hard every day to make these outfits or costumes or whatever you want to call them, who have all the resources, are forced to wear dull, paper-bag like rags filled with holes that have not been mended or washed for months or even years? They look down on us, and everyone else in the lower districts for wearing these clothes, especially in District 8, and yet they are the ones who have imposed this rule on us. Does this make sense to anyone? Maybe to those in the Capitol because the place runs on zero logic.
Speaking of my district, many of us have had to witness an event that we would not even wish upon those in the Capitol, despite all that they have done to us and many of the other districts. It was just another day in District 8. People living in poverty, people dying preventable deaths, people continuing to make fancy clothes for the delusional bastards down at the Capitol in our potato sacks, usual stuff. Luckily, in District 8, we have many people who are open-minded and are willing to help those who are in need, so those that are in pain and are suffering are cared for in a hospital. But of course, the Capitol, being the heartless monsters that they are decide, *snobbish voice* "Oh, there's a hospital in District 8. What is a hospital? Oh, it's a place where people care for those who are suffering? Let's destroy it! We can't have people helping each other in our nation! They need to all be selfish, malevolent pricks like us!"
While watching this happen right before my two, blue-green, watery eyes, I felt as if this was proving a fact that I am certain all the districts have been aware of since the advent of the Hunger Games, which is that the Capitol continuously throw away human lives as if they have no significance. It's just another human being. It's not as if they have family members and close friends who always care for them and will be hugely affected by the loss of someone close to them!
The Capitol need to see that just because they are the supposed rulers of this nation, it does not mean they have the right to take the lives of hundreds of hard-working, innocent people away each day. Without these people, the Capitol would not be living in luxury; we would not have the houses to be protected from harsh climates and other diseases; we would not have the computers and telephone lines to be able to keep in contact with one-another; or the fish we consume to be nourished; or the power plants and windmills keeping our nation alive and connected; or the cars and trains to be able to travel with ease from district to district; or the wood to keep us warm during the deep cold, winter nights; or the clothes to also protect us from many preventable illnesses; or the grain needed to provide fresh bread on the daily; or the cows and chickens supplying us with the energy needed to get through the day; or the nutritious fruits and vegetables for us to make many delicious recipes; or the coal to heat up all of Panem and to keep this nation running how it should.
Just remember, Capitol, without us districts, you'd be nothing.
Tailor.
