I know I probably made a mistake by blasting that squirrel, but what little fun after 5 years in prison?
I gather what very little belongings we have, and then lead Mel to a new hiding place. I've been out in the general area before, so I know a few places we could go.
Up ahead, there should be a path through the trees that leads to another hill where a few caves are. I lead her to the path based of what I can remember about its location.
Since I've last been in these woods, the path has become more overgrown. But, it's not impossible to pass. We make our way through the trees. If I wasnt a fugitive, the walk might be more enjoyable. These woods truly are beautiful. But, due to certain circumstances, I cant enjoy it very well.
"Lithingdar? Can we stop for lunch? I'm hungry," Mel says. I turn around and look at her. She looks exhausted.
"Sure," I reply. To this, Mel let's out a sigh of relief and smiles.
We sit down and eat the squirrel. Not even halfway through lunch, footsteps could be heard from down the path to our right. Mel looks at me.
"Lithingdar? What is that coming from?"Mel looks worried.
"I don't know," I trail off. No, they couldn't have found us this quickly.
"Lithingdar? You seem lost in thought," Mel says with a furrowed brow.
"It's nothing, I think we should get up and run. Leave the stuff, and just run," I tell her. "Ready?"
"O-ok," she says, seeming a bit unsure.
