As I was lying on my bed my phone began to ring beside me. I picked it up and looked at the caller ID – Kyle.
I grinned then picked up.
“Hello?
“Hey, do you wanna make a deal?”
“Depends…” I answered sceptically.
“If I make you love me in two days, you will have to go out with me and stop being so stubborn.
I thought about it. Two days is not enough time. Or I could just hide how I feel for two days… easy.
“Deal. and if I don’t?”
“Then I leave you alone.”
The thought of it made my heart skip. I wasn’t very sure if I wanted him to. But I kinda needed space.
“Fine, and how do you plan to do that?”
Look out your window.”
I moved towards it to see Kyle his phone held up to one ear and in the other was a large picnic basket.
I ran down the stairs into my garden where Kyle had set out a picnic mat. He began to unload the food; there were sandwiches of several sorts, freshly squeezed lemonade, bacon sandwiches, potato salad, a clear plastic box of strawberries and another of melted chocolate. It was the perfect day to have a spring picnic. I gasped in awe.
“What do you think?” he asked that killer grin on his face.
I was utterly speechless.
He pulled out speakers and began to play music quietly behind us.
“It’s amazing! You did this all for me?”
“No I did it for Santa you just happened to be around.” He replied sarcastically.
I hit him playfully on the arm.
“So are we gonna just sit here staring at the food or eat?” I asked.
We ate everything that Kyle had brought they all tasted amazing.
“Did you make all this yourself?” I asked biting into a bacon sandwich.
“Yeah.”
I raised an eyebrow at him.
“Okay maybe my mum helped a bit but I told her beforehand that I’m taking the credit.”
“This is really nice” I repeated yet again.
He got a strawberry, dipped it into the chocolate then popped it into his mouth. I did the same. The fresh red juices bursting in my mouth. We finished those jut as fast as all the other food. Until there was one left behind.
“D’you want it” he asked.
“No you have it.”
“No you I insist, this might just be the sweetest strawberry in the world and you’ll never know.” He said in a surprisingly convincing voice.
He dipped the strawberry into the chocolate and reached it out towards me. I bit into it and watched as he finished it off. I began to make a face the bitterness of the berry stung on my tongue. He did the same. I laughed at the sight of his facial expression. This set him off causing him to make faces at me.
We talked for a bit longer.
“So, are you convinced now?”
“I’m not sure.”
“Really.” He leaned in closer. A shiver ran down my back. I was at a loss of words.
“Um…”
He reach in and kissed me gently, his arms rested on my waist. I kissed back. My arms wrapped around his shoulders. His kiss began to be more passionate.
“Wait.” I pushed at his chest
“What? “ Kyle whispered his breath still heavy.
“How do I know you won’t hurt me?”
“I swear on my life, you mean that much to me.”
