I left the apartment around four so I could go out and buy last-minute clothing for my date later tonight with Sasuke.
I walked into the department store and walked into the women's clothing section. I was walking by all the racks, anxious about what to wear to my first date with Sasuke.
What am I supposed to wear?! Is it like a fancy date? Casual date? Should I even bother looking nice or just wear the same clothes as usual? Ahhh I'm panicking!!!
I began to bite on my nails as I walked by each rack of clothing.
Where do I even start!?
"Naruko...?"
I jumped at the sound of the voice and turned around to see who was calling me. The sight of that person's pink hair made my heart stop and my eyes widen.
"S...Sakura..."
She gave me a weak smile and then looked at the ground in shame. "Hey Naruko...it's been a while..."
I looked away from her in sorrow. "It has..."
The atmosphere between us was so uncomfortable it almost unbreathable. I had to break the tension somehow, so I decided to speak, but when I tried, we ended up speaking at the same time.
"Um, you can go first," I said awkwardly.
She nodded her head as she took a deep breath. "Naruko...I'm sorry for everything I've done...I know what I did was unforgivable, and you have all the right to hate. If I were you, I would also hate me...But I just wanted to let you know I was sorry, even if you don't believe me."
Her words seemed sincere, but I knew I couldn't trust her as I did before.
"Sakura, what you did was truly unforgivable. You betrayed my trust, lied to me and Sasuke, and destroyed my relationship. I can't even trust you anymore. But...I still care for you. You were my best friend at one point, and seeing you hurt makes me sad yet also relieved because you're getting what you deserve...but if I'm being honest I miss my friend..."
She began to tear up, but she quickly wiped her eyes to hide the evidence of her tears.
"I know we can never be friends like before, but if it's okay with you, I would like to start off as acquaintances," I said with a small smile.
The tears she was trying to hide began to overflow and run down her face. "Naruko...I'm so sorry...I don't deserve your kindness..." she said between each cry.
I placed my arms around her to comfort her. "It's okay...but my forgiveness comes with a price."
She looked up at me as she breathed in heavily, trying to breathe after all her tears.
"I need you to help me pick an outfit for tonight."
"An outfit?"
"Mhm, I'm going out with Sasuke tonight and I need help with figuring out what to wear."
She gave me a sorrow-filled looked as she nodded her head. "I'll help you..."
"You sure? I don't want another problem like before."
She nodded her head while she wiped her tears away. "I'm sure. I won't do the same mistake twice."
She grabbed ahold of my hand and began to walk me through the aisles. "Don't worry, I'll make you so pretty, Sasuke's heart will stop," she said with a smile.
I looked at her smile, and for the first time, I saw what seemed like a genuine smile. I then nodded back happily as we walked together.
I hope one day we'll be friends again...
