we were heroes once
donned with our capes
life celebrated
until the downfall camenow we beg –
for the sun to warm us
the air to lift us
the sky to cheer us
but it never camewe’ve won battles,
lost wars;
bruised and bleeding
but we’ve lost so much more –our innocence,
our smile,
our will;
we’ve lost them allthey’ll be back
but i don’t want them
the pieces won’t fit anymore –
we’re gone.
