Severus Snape was standing in the pouring rain, on the Hogsmead platform, the one students use to get to Hogwarts, he was holding an umbrella in his right hand.

It was obvious he didn't want to be there. But at least it wasn't Gilderoy Lockhart he was attending to, Filius complained about him a lot. Severus understands though, Lockhart was indeed annoying, he was worse than Snape's dunderhead students.

The scarlet steam train came into view, and stopped, the doors opened, and Severus patiently waited for any signs of movement, he then heard some noise on his left and went to the the open door wider, there stood a woman, with (E/C) to eyes and (H/C) hair, staring at him, she was holding two trunks in either hand, he frowned, Severus held out his left hand, "Come on," He said, raising the umbrella, the woman shrunk her trunks and pocketed them, and then took his hand and stepped down of the train, "Here." Said Severus, handing her the umbrella, thus getting drenched by the water.

He would have conjured another umbrella, but he was finding a reason to not attend the staff's annual celebrations.

He turned to the new Professor who was still staring at him, and raised an elegant brow, "Well?" He snapped, jerking his head to the general direction of the school in front of them, "Shall we get going?" The woman nodded, and began walking, "I- I thought Professor McGonnagall was going to pick me up," she spoke up so softly, anyone who was listening wouldn't have heard, but Severus did, he was a spy after all.

"Minerva had some errands to run through," he said curtly, slowing down a bit so she could catch up, once they've reached the gates, Severus opened the door of a carriage for her, and helped her get in. "Thanks." She mumbled, Severus didn't reply, he got in and shut the door softy, still soaking wet.

The woman was eyeing his wet hair, Severus huffed, (his head was starting to ache, which was very good) "Don't mind it." He snapped, she looked away quickly.

She was the new Herbology Assistant, the one Sprout spoke of so highly. (Y/F/N).

Why Pomona needed an assistant was somewhat questionable, he knew that the Hufflepuff Head was resilient and hardworking. It must've been age, she was getting a bit old, not to mean any disrespect of course, but Professor Sprout teached Snape when he was a first year. And perhaps, she was getting lazy... perhaps.

A little cough snapped Severus out of his little reverie, he looked at the person in front of him, and ran a hand through his wet hair. He waited for her to speak, "Er, what house were you in..?" She spoke, smiling nervously, "Slytherin." He replied, "Really? Well, er, I'm in Hufflepuff." Severus said nothing.

"I'm (Y/N) (L/N)."

"I know."

"R-right.."

Severus sighed, "Severus Snape."

"P-pardon?"

"My name." Said Snape, "Severus Snape." He repeated,

"O-oh, er, its nice to meet you Professor Snape." She shot him a small smile. Severus didn't return it, he stared at her stoically, "Likewise, Professor (L/N)." He grunted, shivering lightly, he hid it though, she smiled a little and turned to look outside, she seemed to be debating with herself, she then turned back to Severus, whose eyebrow arched higher, "A-aren't you a little cold?" She asked him, concern lacing her voice, damn Hufflepuffs.

"I'll live." He muttered, "Don't you want to.. y'know.. dry up?" Severus suppressed a sneer, "No." He said, "O-okay." The carriage came to a halt, Severus took the umbrella from her gently, and stood up, (not to his full height, no, he was too tall, he'd hit his head) he opened the door, and stepped out, (getting drenched in rain, again) opening the umbrella for her.

"Come on." He drawled, holding out his cold hand, she took it and stepped out, her hood on her head, Severus gave her the umbrella, and led her to the castle.

The walk up the castle was quick, and as soon as Severus and (Y/L/N) stepped into the courtyard a familiar voice called out, "SEVERUS SNAPE!"

Groaning, Severus turned to the person, his face falling into a scowl, Madam Poppy Pomfrey ushered the two into a more covered part of the courtyard, and soon, Severus was being coated in a bunch of warming and drying charms, a vial of Pepper-up Potion was shoved down his throat, and the new Professor was staring by the sidelines, amused.

Poppy began lecturing him, "You ought to take more care of yourself Severus! You do this every year!"

Severus scowled, "It's not my fault they keep doing it!"

"I know, maybe you should just accept it."

Severus backed away from the lecturing nurse, "You've joined the dark side." He muttered to himself, grasping (Y/L/N) by the arm, gently, "Come on." He mumbled to her, "Come on, before she goes all motherly." And together, they ran up to the next floor, (Y/L/N) was out of breath, so Severus decided they stop for a second, "Are you alright?" He asked, letting no emotion seep into his words, the witch nodded, "Yes, I'm fine, shall we get going?" There was a big smile on her face.

Was that a good sign?

Shrugging it off, Severus directed her to the Headmaster's office,

"Bright Rainbow Toffees." He uttered  to the Gargoyle in complete disgust; those toffees hurt him more than the dark lord's torture. They were too bright for his eyes.

Severus helped (L/N) up the steps, and knocked at the huge oak door, "Come in," came Dumbledore's unnaturally cheery voice.

Severus opened the door for (L/N), like the gentleman he was. He was about to turn and leave but Dumbledore stopped him.

"Severus."

Groaning mentally, he turned to the headmaster; his face remained stoic. "Yes, headmaster?"

"I trust you will be coming to the party?"

Snape scowled, "Obviously not."

"Come on, Severus, one year won't hurt."

"My answer stays the same, Headmaster; No."

"Killjoy."
