Anas ibn Malik RA reported:
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
طَلَبُ الْعِلْمِ فَرِيضَةٌ عَلَى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ
" Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim. "
