Fɪʀᴇ ɪɴ ᴍʏ Hᴇᴀʀᴛ || 𝕋𝕒𝕟𝕛𝕚𝕣𝕠 𝕩 𝕄𝕦𝕚𝕔𝕙𝕚𝕣𝕠

ᴅᴏɴ'ᴛ ғᴏʀɢᴇᴛ ᴍᴇ ᴏᴋ?

The sun was bright and shining outside of Tokito's home. The forest surrounding him was full of the light sound of birds singing and water flowing.

Tokito was standing on the back balcony of his house, watching birds snuggle in tree branches and small fish jumping down the stream. He was leaning on the railing, his arm resting against the handle of the railing, and his chin resting on the palm of his hand.

Tanjiro.. my friend Tanjiro... Tanjiro.. ka.. no.. ko..?
Tokito sighed. He had gotten so use to calling his friend just 'Tanjiro' that he had forgotten his last name.. That thought made his heart feel heavy with guilt. He had said he would remember.. was he breaking that promise? Why did he care so much? He'd never cared with anyone else.. did he even make promises to anyone?

He couldn't remember.

"Tokito?"

The boy suddenly jumped and spun around, his hand on the handle of his sword till he realized it was just Tanjiro.

"A-Ah! Tanjiro! I didn't hear you come in.." The dark haired boy muttered out. He had been so lost in his thoughts that he didn't even hear Tanjiro enter his home.

Tanjiro smiled brightly like usual and waved his hand "Sorry! I was calling your name and I got worried when you didn't answer me!" He said in that cheerful voice.

Tokito looked off to the side, a light pink blush dusted over his cheeks from embarrassment. "I see.."

Tanjiro's smile turned soft as he stepped closer to Tokito. He put his hand to his head, ruffling his hair. "I really was worried there for a second.. I know your a pillar and all but you aren't invincible.. Just like me.. I guess I'm trying to say I'm glad you're ok, Tokito.."

Tokito's eyes widened slightly, his cheeks went from a light pink to a deep red. Those words made his heart race, like it was suddenly lit up. The way he said his name.. what was this feeling.. it happened when Tanjiro did these things to him..

Tanjiro slowly removed his hand. "Ok, I came over here for a reason." He said, smiling. "Tokito, I going away. Since I've gotten better, I have a new mission.. but I don't know how long will be away."

It took a moment for Tokito to process that information, but when he did he immediately began to worry. "What..? No! When are you leaving? What's the mission? What if I forget you!" He exclaimed.

Tanjiro was taken a back, Tokito seemed worried, maybe even scared. This never really happened.. he was lucky if Tokito showed any emotions. He soon composed himself and smiled "Calm down Tokito.. I'm leaving tomorrow. As for the mission, people have been going missing on a train. We believe a demon is responsible so they're sending Me, Zenitsu, and Inosuke, as well as the flame pillar Rengoku."

Tokito shook his head "But what if I forget you Tanjiro! I forgot your last name..! If you're gone for too long then I'll forgot who you are!!" Tokito said almost frantically. He didn't want to forget Tanjiro!

Tanjiro grabbed Tokitos hand. "Tokito, please calm down. Here," he pulled the other boy into the room and sat him down. "Listen, just calm down.. I'm not going to die on this mission. I promise you I'll come back and make sure you remember me! But then you have to make me a promise too," Tanjiro explained. He grabbed Tokitos hands in his and smiled "Promise not to forget me, ok?"

Tokito felt his face heat up immediately, his cheeks a deep red and his eyes sparkling from the fluffy feeling raising in his chest. He desperately wanted to know what this feeling was called.. and especially what it meant.

Tokito nodded a little hesitantly and looked down at their hands.. Tanjiros hand was both rough.. but so soft and warm at the same time...

Tanjiro smiled brightly "Alright! Try your best to keep you're promise, and I'll try to keep my promise as well!"

Tokito nodded once again "I promise, Tanjiro," he said before he looked up at him.

Tanjiro smiled and pet the other boy's head. He then stood up "Alright! I need to go now, I'm sorry I can't stay long. But remember your promise!!" He said before he turned to the door and ran to the door.

Tokito quickly got up and ran after Tanjiro, stopping at the railing, leaning over it. "Tanjiro! I promise I won't forget you!" Tokito yelled, cupping his hands around his mouth to make his usual soft voice louder.

Tanjiro turned to look at his friend, giving him a warm smile. "I believe in you, Tokito! I'll be back in no time!" He yelled back, waving to him. Seeing Tokito show emotions like that after him being stone cold for so long made Tanjiro overjoyed, maybe he could regain his memories soon.. But until then, Tanjiro was going to stay by his side and help him! No matter what!
