No More Waiting

"This is ridiculous. We're out here fighting for our lives! Everyone is suffering just like you guys!" Shane yelled at us. This is the first time he had ever truly associated with me. We never talked. And the only time we ever did, was when Daryl had first brought me back. I was just trying to stay to the side while the arguing was occurring. While I was mad at Carol, I felt that this was an argument meant for Daryl and Carol. Of course when things got too out of hand, I stepped in and acted as the peacemaker.

What surprised me the most was the fact that Shane seemed so emotionally involved. Of course Carol had told me something that had happened at the beginning. Before Rick had been reunited with Lori and Carl, when he was in his coma, Shane had supposedly had something with Lori. Now ever since, you could tell there was this cold feeling in the atmosphere when around the trio was together. The same went for if it was two of them together as well. It was horrible. I wondered if people were gonna start feeling the same unbearable uneasiness around us as everyone did around them.

I wasn't one to get everyone involved in my business but since the apocalypse, I think we all lost the right to privacy. And that was no matter how much we wanted it. No secrets could be kept and no lies told. That usually resulted in removal from the group. And I could not survive alone; I could not live without these people. So, I remained true to not only myself, but to the others in this group.

"Fuck you," Daryl spat at Shane. I looked to Carol who was cringing beside Lori. I was sitting down on a stump watching the event unravel. Shane was about to say something back but Rick grabbed Shane by the shoulders and told him to back off. I guess that's what being leader meant; you had to sacrifice.

Daryl looked back to Carol and began yelling again,"Why? I just wanna know why?" She shrugged and stayed where she was looking down at the ground. I, for one, was tired of hearing this fight go nowhere. I stood up and walked up to Carol.

"Don't lie. You know why you did it, hell, he know why you did it. He just wants to hear you say it," I said hoping to quicken the pace of the argument.

"Fine," She said all of a sudden,"I HATE YOU!" I looked to Daryl then back at Carol, confused.

"You ALWAYS get EVERYTHING you want! First, Daryl brings you back. He NEVER brings anyone back! So, why you?" She laughed silently and bitterly for a few seconds before continuing.

She spoke with a low, pained voice,"He was the only one I had. He was my best friend and you took him away from me." I backed up and looked to Daryl to see what he would do or say. He shook his head and started pacing back and forth. Finally, after what seemed like forever, Daryl spoke so I didn't have to.

"You messed that up. You were the one that didn't come to me. Instead, you went behind my back and messed with Danae," he said gesturing towards me. She shook her head and looked down. I could see the tears falling from her eyes. I was beginning to feel bad for her but I couldn't help but feel like she still kind of deserved this. But, then again, could we really let one mistake define who someone was for the rest of their life?

"Don't talk to me again!" Daryl spat,"You don't deserve no pity!" And with that, he walked away leaving everyone that was there starring after him.
