Of Nothing

What is nothing?
Is it something that is present?
Is it something that is absent?
Is it something that is found?
Is it something that is lost?

Where is nothing?
Is it above my head?
Is it below my feet?
Is it underneath my bed?
Is it floating above the creek?

When is nothing?
Is it when I am poor?
Is it when I am rich?
Is it when I am eating?
Is it when I am starving?

Who is nothing?
Is it the man who lives next door?
Is it the friend I most adore?
Is it the people I hold dear?
Is it the humans I ignore?

Why is nothing?
Is it the reason I wake up?
Is it the reason I go slumber?
Is it the reason I am alive?
Is it the reason I wake once more?

How is nothing?
Is it the way he speaks and dress?
Is it the way these people walk?
Is it the way they all look at me?
Is it the way I think these thoughts?

When nothing is present, then all things are absent.
When nothing is found, then all things are lost.
The paradox of nothingness, to be nothing is to be everything.
The paradox of everyness, to be everything is to be nothing.

Indeed, for if you were everything, then nothing would be everything.
And if you were nothing, then everything would be nothing.
So it is better to be nothing
So that you still have everything.
