In the Daily Planet newspaper offices, everyone is scrambling to get their work done. It's a big news week. Clark Kent taps his stack of papers on his desk to line them up and fixes his glasses. He gets up and walks over to Perry White's office in the midst of the chaos. Before he walks in, he just stands still and takes a deep breath. He walks in when Perry is yelling at a reporter.
"Now, this story is no good! Not engaging enough, and this headline is trash. Have a revision on my desk by the end of the day!"
"Yes, Mr. White," they respond.
"Now - -"
"Mr. White?" Clark breaks in.
"Yes, Kent?"
"Um, Mr. White, uh, I have a story that I, heh, think is important for our readers to see." Clark's nervousness shows.
"Have you finished the report on Wayne?" White asked.
"Uh, no, Mr. White, I - -"
"Then I'm not interested."
"Mr. White, this story is really important."
"What's it about?"
"The state of Gotham. Its economy has plummeted, and its police department is corrupt. So corrupt that they've placed their trust in a vigilante dressed like a bat."
"Hmm... Clark, I'm gonna be frank with ya. No one cares about Gotham right now. Hell, Bruce Wayne is opening up a building in Metropolis. Look, this just isn't big enough news! There's bigger news you could be tackling, so just drop the story!"
"But Mr. White - -"
"I need that Wayne report by the end of the day!"
Clark sighs and leaves the office. Lois stops him on his way to his desk. "Hey, Clark, how'd it go?"
"Oh, uh, not too well, Lois," he says.
"What? Did he say no?"
"Um, yeah, but well, that's Mr. White. Heheh."
"No, this is stupid, that's a good story you got!"
Clark smirks. "Oh, you really think so, Lois?"
"Yeah, I do," she admits. "You have moxy, Kansas."
Clark smiles. He looks at her for a second. "Lois, there's something I wanna - -"
But then, he hears something. A scream.
"Yes, Clark?" Lois asks.
"Sorry, Lois, I gotta go."
"Oh, well, um, see ya later!"
Clark walks away and exits the office. He walks down the hall and opens his shirt, revealing his Superman emblem.
In the middle of the city, a skywalk can be seen from below. A woman is on it, distressed, as it begins to crack. She screams. "Please, someone help me!"
The glass cracks more, until it completely breaks. She screams as she falls from the height of the tall building. The people below gasp.
But then, a blue and red figure swoops in through the sky and grabs the woman. The woman looks at the figure to see none other than Superman. "Superman?!"
The man of steel smiles. "That's me." He flies her back up to the building to safety as the people below clap and cheer. "Yeah Superman!"
"Thanks so much, Superman," she says. "I don't know how I could ever repay you."
"No need," he says. "That's not why I do it." She smiles at him. "Please don't let this turn you off about the skywalk, though. It's one mighty fine view." He smiles and flies away.
Everyone cheers. "Superman!"
