Max's P.O.V

It was an early morning, and I felt sick to my stomach.

When the alarm came off, I shoved my pillow in my face, and tried to ignore it.

I didn't want to get up this morning, even though it was the first year of high school.

I groaned, as the alarm clock kept ringing.

"Fine! I'll get up!" I yelled, as I kicked the alarm clock off my night stand.

I began to sit up, as the reflection of the sun shinned in my eyes through my window.

I wiped my eyes, and began to walk towards the restroom to get freshened up.

As I opened the door, I saw my reflection through the mirror, and I looked like a reck! I just sighed, and shrugged it off.

I then grabbed a scrunchie pulled my hair up in a messy pony, and quickly grabbed my bag to run downstairs.

As I began to exit my bedroom, I shut the door quietly hoping Billy wasn't up.

As I ran downstairs, I decided I didn't even wanna make breakfast. I just wanted to go to school, and get it over with.

I walked out the door, and grabbed my skate board, hesitant for my first day.

I began to roll down the side walk, as some of my friend waved to me.

"Hey, Max!" Lucas yelled, as he waved his hand.

"Hey stalker!" I screamed back, as I continued to look straight ahead of me.

Lucas is my neighbor, and I've known him for a few years now. He's one of my only friends, and my greatest friend.

I can trust him with anything.

As I headed towards the front of the school, I grabbed my skate board, and began to walk in.

I missed summer break so much, school is such a pain.

I then found my locker, and opened it up, as it was fresh and new like this school year.

Most people are excited for their first year in high school, you know, like to get a chance to restart, or to have a new year glow up, or be extremely popular.

For me though, I just don't really care? I mean, once is over, it's over. No one will care you were the prom queen, or the popular quarterback once you get into the real world.

I just began putting my belongings in my locker, and tried to keep a low cover. I didn't wanna cause much attention.

I know what you are thinking, you probably think I'm some weird loner. That's not necessarily true though, for me I'm just a normal student.

I never really got picked on, but I never made fun of anyone either. I sorta just hang out with my friends, and no one really knows me.

I began to walk down the hall, and had my books ready with me for the first class.

I heard a familiar yell from behind me, "Hey, Max! Wait up!"

I turned to see my group of friends, well most people know them as the nerds. I try not to show off I'm friends with them, but it's hard to avoid them, they're pretty loud.

I covered my face, and tried to ignore the yells. They eventually caught up to me though.

"Hey, arent you excited for the first year of high school?" Mike cheers.

"Maybe this year I'll get some girls to go to the dance with me." Dustin adds.

I just shook my head, "Whatever."

They continued.

"Maybe this year I can make the football team." Will smiles, but we all know that's not his thing.

"What about you Max, what are you planning to do this year?" Lucas asks, curiously.

"Not much, just the same as every other year. This year won't be much different." I sigh, as I continue to walk down the halls hoping no one sees me with the party of nerds.

"Really?! How lame. You should do something new this year." Mike insists.

"Yeah! I mean, it's the first year of high school! A new place, where you can make new friends, and have a new reputation." Lucas adds to Mike.

"Uhh, and when did you guys care about reputation?" I asked, shaking my head.

They all stood there silent.

"When I thought you guys were the only normal people, I guess not." I teased, as I continued to walk hiding my smile.

Will then ran back towards me, as the other boys followed.

"Well, this is high school! This is one of the most important part of everyone's life. Why don't you make the best of it?" Will impatiently asks, as he waits for my answer.

"Why high school as an opportunity to try to get popular, but then make yourself more of a freak then you already are?" I reply, opening one of my books.

"We aren't trying to become freaks! We just-"

I cut Lucas off, "Well, the more you try I guarantee the more you're gonna get embarrassed." I laugh.

"Why don't you just spend your high school life as a chance to get good grades, so you can go to a good university in the future? I think that sounds like a better idea." I once again add, as I try to escape to my first class.

"Alright, well you're gonna miss all the fun!" Mike yells, as he heads to his class.

"And all the pretty ladies!" Dustin screams back.

"Dude, she's a girl!!!" Lucas yells at Dustin.

"Well then, pretty boys!" Dustin replies.

"You mean handsome?" Will asks.

"No! Pretty!" Dustin laughs.

I just ignore their screaming across the hall, and head into my class to begin the first day of school.

I actually meant, the first day of hell.
