"Have you got everything you need, toothbrush, a coat in case it rains, some money if you anything nice to buy?" Alex asks fussing around me

"mom, calm down I've got everything okay, you forced me to let you pack my bag remember," I say chuckling at the full mama bear mode Alex has home into

"I know, I'm just double-checking that my baby has everything," she says pulling my face to here's so she can kiss my forehead

"mom, stop" I whine out as I wipe the lipstick marks off my face.

"what with you calling me mom so.much all of a sudden, not that I don't want you to do in love it, but you normally only do it when something is going on" Alex, says as she carries my suitcase down with her

"After that night when it was us three cuddled on the couch I realise you guys were my family and there's no point being scared anymore" I tell her honestly

"you were scared? Why were you scared?" Alex says stopping in her tracks to look at me

"I don't know, I guess a part of me always thought you'd do what my last foster family did, just dump me you've had enough," I say looking down and my feet a little embarrassed

"I would never do that and you know for fact ash and Ali would kick my butt if I ever did," Alex says lifting my head to look at her

"that is very true" I reply letting out a light chuckle at the thought.

"youre okay with me calling you mom right?" I ask wanting to double-check I'm not stepping over any boundaries

"I'm more than okay with it and I've actually got something I need to ask you" She says smiling at me as she runs into the kitchen coming back with an envelope and Krashlyn somehow

"I've had this for over two years now and I think this is the perfect time to ask," she says handing it to me as I just look at her confused as to why she's being so cryptic

I open the brown envelope and pull out some papers.

"Read it out loud," Ash says all giddily like the child she is

"Official documentation form for Alexandra Patricia Morgan to a-adopt Kate Harper Grant," I say stuttering as I read what the words say

"y-you want to adopt me?" I ask Alex, my voice barely above a whisper

"If you want me to I would love to make you officially my daughter," Alex says coming over to me

I take my eyes off the papers in front of me and look up to Alex, tears brimming in my eyes. I can't seem to get any words lit so I just nod my bead up and down

"Yeah?" Alex asks smiling at me

I hug Alex round the waist burying my head into her chest as she rests her chin on my head.

"I'm officially an Aunt" Ash shouts making everyone chuckle and join in on the hug anyway.

"thank you guys for giving me a family" I mumble out just enough so they can hear

"you deserve it Kate," Ali says as we separate from the hug.

"come on enough of the sappy stuff, you've got a plane to catch," mom says to me

I follow the three A's out of the house and we all climb in the truck ready to drive to the airport where I'll be flying to England for the first time.

"you make sure to call or text me when you land okay?" mom says as I wait by my terminal

"I know mom, stop worrying please" I say to her
