This book instilled in me a sense of pride.
Through humiliation -
It seemed to tell me:
Look at us cross the desert paths
And swim across barrier streams
And yet - even as you press the heal of your muddy boot to the heads of the hungry innocent,
I hope you quiver when we continue,
Limping,
To enter our dreams and shed your reality.
