"...Actually, I have no idea." Good! The truth. Just as planned. "Really?" he asks, "I'd thought everyone had a reason to move 'cross an ocean." And, it actually is the truth. Yes, of course, your sister is here, but you've got family back home, as well. You have your mum, your grandma. "Perhaps I just wanted something different. To get away from the everyday life, you know?" He's doing the thing again. "Something different." He pauses. Still doing the thing. "You're something different." Woah, woah, woah. Where did that come from?!
"I'm really not, you know" silence, "Besides, you don't even know me yet. And, uhm, you're doing the staring again!" He stops. He sits back. He doesn't look you in the eye."Hi, would you like to order?" The waitress at your side inquires. You'd forgotten you were at an actual café, just sitting there being awkward. Nothing new. "Actually, we haven't gotten menu yet." The waitress excuses herself and scurries away to get a pair of them. "Here you are. Miss, sir. When you are ready to order just raise a hand and I'll be at your service." You nod in acceptance and give her a friendly smile — as if to say that everything is alright.
You don't know what to choose. A soft drink perhaps? Or, maybe, something stronger. Hold on. You never got to that scotch Blaine'd poured. "So, what are you having?" You politely inquire, not to rush him. "Well, we never did get to that scotch back at mine, so I'll go with that." Stunned by your "in-syncness" , you just smile in return. "I see. Well, great minds think alike." He calls the waitress over. He doesn't smile at her yet addresses the young woman with a pleasant attitude. The woman (please get this reference) swiftly grabs the cards from the table and leaves to get your order.
"Are you and Liv close?" Blaine randomly asks.
You aren't. Not really. But then again.... Considering all the other family members, she is the one closest to you. "We're close enough. She did allow me to move in with her." The word allow doesn't really cling in that sentence, "Well, I say 'allow'" so you stop to think about your words. "She was happy to hear that I wanted to move." She was! She'd always had a family of her own here, and you'd never thought she'd never give a damn. Of course, when you texted — long before you thought about leaving your homeland — she always found the time to talk. Always. But, it's easier to have a person across an ocean: they don't obligate you to be responsible for them. It's easier to promise a person something when they aren't there to remind you of it, "She's the closest thing to family that I've got." and you thought that right until you moved. Yes, yes! Family back home, you know. You know. "Honestly, I've never been too close with my mum. I love her, but she's also hurt me and broken my trust so many times. Liv was always there for me, even though we were so far apart." You do love your mum, you really do. But all of what you're telling Blaine right now, all of it's true. It's a toxic relationship, the one you have with her. When you left you felt anxious, but in your heart, you knew it was the right thing to do. "And, your dad? What's he like?" A cheeky smirk appears on your face. "Aren't you moving a bit fast? Wanting to get to know my parents already?" Blaine knows that you're trying to change the subject and won't let you. "No, seriously." Sitting there with your smirk — in silence — you notice lay your eyes on the waitress with the 2 scotch glasses. As she approaches, you snatch one of them of the tray and take a sip. The young woman gives the second drink to your companion and leaves.
Sweeping your hair away from your face with one hand and the glass in the other, you tell him: "I don't have a dad."
Hiiiiiiiiii!!!!
Here it is. As promised.
I was such an idiot last Friday, so I forgot the PC charger at the gymnasium and didn't have the chance to write at all.
I know the chapter is sort of short, but it's the best I can do right now, however there will be more, soon. And that's a promise.
Love y'all
