Chapter 1: The Dream

(This is my first time doing something like this but I hope everyone enjoys!)                  

                 The first thing she noticed was the sound of the wind howling all around her. The feeling of her hair billowing and some goosebumps on her skin from the chill. Her eyes fluttered open softly seeing the blue open sky. Upon further examination she could almost see the stars above her, was she falling from space? She looked around and saw four other figures enveloped in different colored lights. She couldn't see their faces or even their bodies clearly but they appeared human. She felt her body becoming heavy along with her eyelids and allowed them to close once more.

                    Luxanna Crownguard awoke sitting straight up in bed with a cold sweat. "That dream again.." She couldn't recall how many times she had had that specific dream but it was always so vivid, like a memory. She shook off the feeling and stretched glancing at her alarm clock, still pretty early to get ready for school. It never hurts to be prompt though! She hopped out of bed and walked straight into her bathroom turning on the light and seeing her horrific bedhead. Yikes! Lux quickly undressed and got into the shower. A few minutes later she was drying off and brushing her teeth, she could already hear someone in the kitchen. "Garen is probably cooking up some breakfast. Hope it's good!" She styled her hair into her favorite style, pigtails of course! She swiped on some mascara and brown liner as she went to her room to finish up her routine. As she was getting dressed, she admired her cork board full of photos and accolades. Gymnastics medals and pictures. One picture was with her brother, Garen, and his best friend Jarvan though Garen just called him JJ. She smiled softly recalling their younger days. Shaking off the nostalgia she headed to the kitchen.

                    Wearing a plain white apron on top of a military uniform, a muscular 22-year old man stood in the kitchen attempting to make an omelet. She smiled "Good morning blockhead!" She sat down beaming a smile at him. Garen looked back smirking " 'Sup booger! Ready to have the best omelette of your life?" She pouted really hating that nickname. "Just focus on not messing it up this time." He laughed heartily which always made everyone feel more at ease. Garen used to be the youngest decorated officer in the military, but he sustained an injury protecting Jarvan. It forced him to retire early with full honors and almost an endless retirement fund. He refused to sit back to let his injury consume him, so he decided to work as a recruitment officer. The period between, Lux barely recognized her brother he was so dark and devoid of happiness. She's definitely noticed an improvement in his mood since he started working for the recruitment office. A plate was set down in front of her bringing her back to the present. A very broken but yummy looking omelette was on it. She tried to stifle her laughter as she looked up at Garen with his hands on his hips and a serious face. "The flip was a little shaky but it definitely tastes good." He sat down with another plate with an equally demolished omelette. "Bon apple the teeth!" She chuckled taking a small bite. Impressive! Lux ate it up quickly barely breathing it seemed. She gulped down an apple juice on the table that was set down prior. She sighed happily slapping her stomach. "Alright that was pretty good. Presentation needs to be improved upon." He scoffed "Be lucky you even get home cooked meals. Those sugary cereals are so bad for your energy in school. Gotta have enough to keep focused!" She chuckled. "Well alright I'm going to head out before I miss the train." She grabbed her bag and school jacket as she headed for the door. "Luxanna!" He never used her full name. She turned around and he was looking at her "Be careful out there. You know disappearances have been on the rise lately, especially for students." She gave him a reassuring smile "Come on Gare! I know how to fight anyone, I learned from the best remember?" She gave him a wink and headed out.
