Listening closely for Mum's car to pull up we made the plan. As soon as we heard the car we jumped out of our seats and got to work on the bookshelf that Dad was supposed to be making. Minutes had passed and we heard Mum's footsteps come over to the shed and then stop by the door and wait. it was like she was trying to listen to our conversations. After a while she walked away finding nothing at all about our plan. We had finished the bookshelf after a bit of a struggle, went in for dinner and forgot about the shed incident.
The next day was the night before the trail walk. Dad and I had thought about what we might need to take. The list had narrowed down to six things, clothes, food, water, a tarpaulin, a torch, and a phone. Later that day Dad and I went down and checked the trail entrance to make sure that there was nothing else that we would need for the night ahead of us.Night had fallen and we had sneakily collected all of the items over the afternoon. Thankfully Mum hadn't laid any suspicious looks at us and hadn't found out about or secrets. She tried to be nice, but it was secretly to see if she could worm under our skin to find out any plans. Dad had put me to bed and told me to pretend to sleep when comes and checks on me before she goes to bed. Minutes later I had fallen asleep but at 12 am I was woken up by my Dad. He told me it was time and we should sneak quietly and grab our stuff from the shed on the way past.
5 minutes later we could see our destination. I wanted to run ahead but dad grabbed me firmly on the shoulder and told me to wait and be quiet. We approached the trail cautiously. "Ready?" Dad asked. I nodded and squeezed his hand. We entered the woods and wandered down the trail until we came across this glitter on a bush. We recognised the glitter from somewhere but thought nothing of it.
