Ethan's POV

"Ethan, please, eat something!" Richard begs me as Carson pushes my plate closer to me. I don't make a move to eat, I don't do anything. I can't. For the past three years I've hardly done anything. I sleep, eat if I feel like it, and stare blankly into empty space. That's it. I can't make myself do anything. I'm a husk of my former self. I never smile, I never laugh, I hardly even talk or look people in the eye. All I want I'd my mate and children. That's all. My father sighs and sets his fork down.

"Goddess, Ethan. What do you want us to do for you to act normal again?" I look him in the eye for the first time in three years.

"Find my mate and children and bring them back to me."

Mother looks up from her plate and looks from me to father.

"Honey, please just do it. Can you imaging what it would be like if someone took me and the boys away from you?"

He growls.

"The is no way in hell I'd stand for that! I would do everything in my power to get you back!"

"Exactly. If it were me, I would probably have already killed myself." She looks back at me. "I don't know how you've done it."

I look down at my hands folded in my lap.

"I promised Micah that I would keep living, although this life is more of a waking death than anything..." I trail off into a sob as my last moments with him flood my mind, along with the beautiful faces of our children as I remember them. I break down into wretched sobs again for probably the fifth time today. All I want, all I want, is to see my mate and children again. I can't keep living like this! Richard pulls me into his arms as father sighs again.

"... Fine."

My head snaps up to stare at him with wide, hopeful eyes. The first emotion I've shown in goddess knows how long. His face goes blank as he mind links some of the pack trackers, who come into the room shortly after.

"We'll do whatever we can do to find him, just stop making that dead expression."

I launch myself out if my seat and into his chest, sobbing my heart out, but this time in joy.

"Thank you! Thank you daddy, thank you so much!!"

He just huffs and pats my back lightly. The group leaves, along with my brothers, as soon as they get his scent off of me and I'm left to anxiously await their return, hopefully with my mate and children. Oh, I can't wait to see what they look like now! I bet Lot is the prettiest girl in the world and my boys are drop dead gorgeous!! Mother smiles sweetly at me.

"I'm happy for you. I can't imagine how you must feel... If you, your brothers and your father were ever taken away from me..." She shudders, "and you didn't even get a chance to get to know your boys and girl. I'm so glad that your father has finally seen the light and I'd going out to find them. It's about time, too, after three years of watching you practically waste away. It's so good to see you smile again."

And smile I do. For the first time in three years I truly smile, for I will hopefully get to hold my mate and children in my arms again soon.

Another short chapter, but it's mostly a filler. I'll get back to the real story next chapter. What do y'all think about Ethan's dad's change of heart?
