SCREEE
My eyes shoot up from my dinner only to see a blur of black heading to the kitchen. Then I look at the chair beside me to find it empty. "Oh, poor Virgil." I say quietly.
"I'll go check on him, I'll be back." Mister Sanders excused himself from the table.
"Did what I think just happened happen?" Roman worriedly looks off to where the frail boy ran.
"It appears that Virgil's body is not used to food and he accidentally consumed too much for his body to handle." Logan adjusts his glasses with a frown.
"I wonder who caused this?" I pick at my eggs, "Who neglected the poor kid?"
"When he's comfortable with us, he might explain. But for now we must be patient and not push him." Logan glares toward the twins at this.
"What! I haven't done anything!" Roman exclaims, standing up dramatics from the table.
"You tend to have a more excitable personality. Just keep your yelling to a minimum around Virgil." The two glare at each other.
"Boys, Logan's right." Roman huffs and flops back down into his chair. "He'll come to us when he's ready."
Just then Mister Sanders exits the kitchen, Virgil trailing behind with his head down. His hands are trembling at his sides and he looks pale. Well, paler. Once he's gone I look back toward the group, they all have similar expressions. Even Remus looks worried.
"He always looks so scared." Janus piped up quietly.
We nod in agreement as a grim looking Thomas comes back to the table. "He's gone to sleep. I told him about everyone's after school schedule, so he can decide if he wants to stay after. So don't be too loud, he needs the rest."
"Of course, Mister Sanders." Logan speaks for all of us.
TIME SKIP BROUGHT BY OUR SLIMEY BOI
"It's 10:30, it would be reasonable for us to head to bed now. I'm unsure of tomorrows plans, but we should be well rested." Logan says as he shuts off the television.
"Great, I get to spend even more time with Calculator Watch." Roman groans as he picks himself up off the floor.
"At least you don't have share with Remus. He's a nightmare." Janus grumbles from the bottom of the stairs as he shuffles up.
Roman puts his finger up, "True, thank you for reminding me."
Logan and Roman continue to bicker as they go upstairs, I follow behind them and Remus behind me.
Once we make it to the second staircase I remember something, "Quiet down kiddos, Virgil's asleep."
We all silently go up, Roman and Logan grumble quietly as they go down the hallway together.
I smile at the two, they may constantly bicker but I know better. Logan was here first, I showed up a couple years later. Janus just showed up a day or two after I did. Roman and Remus came together a few weeks after Logan turned five. We've known each other all through our school years. We're family.
Maybe one's a little more than family. I blush at the thought as I push open my bedroom door.
I quiet gasp escapes my lips as I look toward my new roommate. Virgil has gotten rid of his jeans and sweatshirt, now the bruises heavily contrast on his pale skin They are just as visible as his collarbone.
My lips turn down, he'll come around when he's ready. All I want to do is wrap him up in my arms and never let him go. But I can't because he's been through heck and he needs to adjust.
