my soul is ancient
i existed before time itself
& i have been here many times before
every version of myself that has existed

each time i shed my skin my wisdom grows infinitely more
for i am a manifestation of the All
a manifestation of Love
i am my mother, and her mother, and her mother's mother

i know and maintain the primordial ways
my hands whisper the secrets and stories of creation
for they have baptized much
of what is unclean and rebirthed it into something celestial
i am the mouthpiece of the ancestors
the speaker from which they have chosen for their voices to resound

i know and maintain the primordial ways
i was created out of healing clay
i was formed in and out of love
i am the resurrection of the revolution
my existence is testament to the rapture
there is a war cry in my every tear

i know and maintain the primordial ways
i am the Guardian of the gate
the bridge between this world and the next
magic drips from between my thighs
sticky, sweetness that comforts,
that remedies, and quiets

i know and maintain the primordial ways
i do not shrink in the presence of men
who molest me with their eyes
who roll my name slowly
around their tongue
chewing it over and over and over
savouring it in their swollen, yearning mouths
i draw my lips back to reveal my teeth oozing with venom

i know and maintain the primordial ways
my love is intense, my love is consuming
it is pure, but it is dark
it has depth
it is complex and fierce and passionate
it is fire
dangerous and essential
those who love me in fear
won't find the solace they seek
i will swallow you whole

i know and maintain the primordial ways
i am the embodiment of the divine
the creator life force
i am infinite and my waters are eternal
i am harmony and creativity
again and again i am Reborn
