The Masked Child

Chapter 2: The Beginning

"I will get out of here." yelled a strange voice in the back of my head as I headed down the stairs from my bedroom, I've only ever had voices telling me I'm worthless and screwed up never one yelling it'll become free. When I got down the stairs I noticed all of the pictures that were on the wall were now on the ground with broken glass and burns making it impossible to see the photos that were once inside those frames. The red couch and two brown chairs I had in my living room were now on fire and filling the air with smoke; as the smoke fills it becomes harder and harder to breathe while I'm walking through my house, I notice that the walls are also on fire not just my furniture. I hear a thump and as my heartbeat sky rockets and my breathing becomes heavy I turn around to see my bookshelves now on the ground with books on fire thrown all over the now blood stained carpet. Broken glass coats everything as the flames get higher and higher. How'd this happen? Whose blood is that? What is that smell? There is a very strong scent, it's not burning, not gas I can't tell what it is at all, it doesn't even seem like a smell from this world, I can't even attempt to describe how it smells. 

My TV turns on by itself and I turn around once again in alarm, partly because it just turned on but also because of how everything in my house seems smashed or on fire this for some reason doesn't even have a scratch. "There has been a massive virus that is spreading at an uncontrollable rate." Well this blows first my house catches on fire and now there is a deadly virus. Although now that I look around it is very clear that the fire has been here for a long time, it probably started when I was first going to bed so it's very weird how it hasn't spread throughout my house and instead just stayed in the main floor level. "Billions of people are now dead, and those of you not dead have developed 'freak powers' stay away from the dead, stay away from the living, stay away from animals, stay away from everything! There are new rules for the human race and if you break them I will hunt you down!" This is hands down the weirdest news broadcast I have ever seen, the reporter was wearing some sort of wooden demonic mask.

When I turned off the TV a red flash came followed by a picture of me in front of a background of dripping blood down. in the photo of me blood came out of the eyes nose ears and mouth. The image of me starting smiling before a bullet hole appeared in my right eye, after the hole appeared it stopped smiling and blood covered the image. It flashed red again and then went black and I felt a sharp enough burning feeling in my right eye that I hit the ground. The TV crashed onto the floor with the glass front shattering everywhere and a pool of blood was coming out of the TV and soaking into the half burnt now grey carpet. A small piece of glass flew by and cut my right check with a sharp sting.

Ignoring everything that was happening I thought I might as well go get something to eat or maybe a pain killer so I headed to my kitchen. I see Jasmine laying on my kitchen floor laying in a pool of blood. I run over and flip her over, put my finger on her neck to check for a pulse. Her pulse was very faint but still there. I have no idea what to do other than give her some pills so that's what I do. She reeks of burning plastic.

Two dogs run in through my front door which for some reason is just gone now, one for the dogs launch right at me luckily I don't do my dishes very often so there is a very sharp used knife in my sink. I feel the dogs teeth sink into my forearm as I reach for the knife, I shake my arm trying to get the dog off. As I'm looking at the dog I start to notice it looks like it's already dead. I manage to pick up the knife before he does any more damage and quickly stab it in the head it immediately drops and caught fire. The second dog was sniffing out the girl I walk over and notice it also looks dead,  before it noticed I even knew what I was doing I killed it too. "very good you learn quickly." the voice was saying with a laugh.

I enter my washroom and grab the bandages then try to wash out the wound however my water is no longer working. I take a clean towel and put rubbing alcohol on it and dab it into the wound. After I'm done cleaning it I start bandaging it, after I'm done that I grab another clean towel and more rubbing alcohol and bandages and head into the kitchen. I notice some wounds on her arm, stomach, and leg so I start with cleaning the legs, as I'm bandaging her legs she jumps awake causing me to jump back. I pull up her shirt and start treating the wounds on her stomach. After I finish that I treat her arms.
