Yvette groaned the moment that she had woken up. Her head was on Randall's shoulder and her arm was around his stomach. She could feel the heat from there werewolf's body because they were naked. Randall had spent the night in Yvette's room because he did not feel comfortable staying in his own. He was used to staying in the Knights' house, but since it was gone, he needed a new place to get settled in and he thought that Yvette's room was good for that.

"Randall," Yvette shook the werewolf awake. "Wake up. Don't you have a class to go to?"

"I only have one class in the afternoon," Randall mumbled as he held Yvette tighter. "How about you?"

"I have one but my hangover is terrible," Yvette massaged her temples. She now regretted drinking those shots of tequila. "I'll just go to the Order later since it's my first day. I'll try and search for a way to recover your friends' memories,"

Yvette would refuse to go to the Order if it was not for the deal that she made with Randall. Helping the werewolf find a way to restore his friends' memories was a trade for sexual pleasure. Yvette was aware that it was not a fair trade since Randall was also benefitting from the pleasure but she wanted to keep herself preoccupied. She did not want to think about the break-up.

"Then there's nothing left to do..." Randall whispered in Yvette's ear. "...sleep, Yvette."

"What the hell are they doing here?" were the words that escaped Yvette's mouth the moment that she had stepped inside the temple of Belgrave that served as the Order's base. She could not believe that they were here.

"They are acolytes...like you," Alyssa cleared her throat. It was bad enough that she was assigned to tutor Yvette Perry, but tutoring a frustrated Yvette? This was far from what she had signed up for, really far. Yvette was different from Jack Morton, Alyssa's ex-boyfriend. Jack loved her and even as a werewolf, he did everything to protect her. On the other hand, Yvette was not her friend. Serpents were more dangerous than wolves...especially when not tamed. "These are your fellow acolytes And—"

"I know who they are," each word that Yvette spat was filled with venom. "What a small fucking world. Who thought that I wouldn't be able to get away from you and your new girlfriend, huh, Andy?"

Andy Fields looked shocked. He did not expect to see Yvette in the Order. The reason why Andy left Yvette was because he thought he was weird and he had bonded with Emily Geller when they were neophytes. Since he had spent more time—and thought that he would be spending more time with Emily than with Yvette, Emily was the better choice. "How long have you been in the order, Yvette? This is confusing. We didn't see you with us when we were just neophytes,"

"She's a special case," Alyssa answered for the forest green-eyed girl. Even without asking, the blonde knew that there was bad blood between both sides. She was sure that the two were exes because she had seen Yvette and Andy together a few times on campus.

"I'll show you just how special I am," Yvette shifted which surprised the three members who was inside the room. Emily hid behind Andy and Alyssa moved to the side. Yvette knew that she looked terrifying. Her skin were green scales, her eyes turned into slits, and fangs were visible inside her mouth.

"W—What the fuck?" Andy could not believe his eyes. This was the reason why Yvette was being weird before and there was no need to question it. Andy had never thought that Yvette would manage to look this...terrifying. The forest green-eyed girl was one of the most beautiful girls in the university. Not once in his life did her ever think that he would see her like this. At the back of his mind, Andy thought that Yvette still looked pretty hot in her serpent form but shrugged the thought behind because it was weird.

"Get out!" Alyssa ordered Andy and Emily who did not question the blonde. The two ran toward the exit and Alyssa closed the door when they left. Yvette shifted back to her human form right after. "What the hell did you just do?"

"I shifted," Yvette chuckled. She clearly enjoyed everyone's reactions. Their fear fed her like she was in a buffet. "Don't be so uptight, Alyssa. It's not everyday that you see your ex-boyfriend together with the girl that he cheated on you with,"

"You have complete and perfect control of...the serpent?" Alyssa confirmed. Not all humans could control the animals hiding inside them. Jack even admitted to her that it was hard to unleash the werewolf inside him if he wanted to before.

"It's not hard...especially if you're born with it," Yvette answered. "How did the Order find out what I am anyway?"

"There's a book about mythical creatures in the reliquary," Alyssa responded honestly. "Since the Grand Magus is also the chancellor of the university, she figured out that you came from the family of serpentines when she saw your name,"

"Can you show me the book?"

"Uh—Yeah, sure," since Alyssa was promoted to Magistratus, she could now come and go inside the reliquary whenever she wanted to. She guided Yvette to the reliquary and grabbed the book of mythical creatures from the shelf before handing it to the serpentine. "The mythical creatures are listed in alphabetical order,"

Yvette browsed the book until she finally found the pages that contained information about the serpentines. She ignored all the parts that she already knew about her kind until she landed on a page foreign to her liking. "Umm...Alyssa?"

"Yes?"

"Have you read about this?" Yvette showed a specific page to the blonde. "What the fuck is this?"

"Serpentines are to be buried for two years when they have perfect control of their powers," Alyssa mouthed the words out loud. "If they don't, the serpent will consume the host until there's no trace of humanity left in the body...and soul."
