"It's okay. I'm not going to hurt you. I'm here to help," the man said as he put a hand on my head, petting me behind the ear. All I could do was flinch cause I was hurting to bad. Whimpering softly, I opened my eyes and looked at him. His piercing gold eyes stared into mine.

He was careful as he slid his hand over my still bloodied side, and towards my injured leg. I started to feel really dizzy from the blood loss and was starting to panic. I guess he heard me breathing hard because he ended up holding my head up to his chest and started to whisper in my ear. "It's okay. Just breathe, I'm not gonna leave you like this." He said softly and I looked at him. Such confidence. His voice was so soothing that I immediately calmed down. Why was he making me feel this way?

After completely surrendering, I sighed. "Look away but don't close your eyes." He said and gently laid my head down. I obeyed and looked out into the distance. Hearing some rustling, and leaves crunching, my stomach growled. "Someone's hungry," he said chuckling and put a hand on my unhurt paw. "Get ready. I'll be quick." He announced and took off his shirt. Putting his hands on either side of the opening of the bear trap, I flinched.

He started to pry it open and I let out a loud cry. Pain shot up my entire being until the point when I'm seeing stars. It was extremely difficult to keep conscious. When the damp and humid air hit my exposed leg, I yelped. The stranger wrapped his shirt around it and pulled tight trying to stop the bleeding. The clamp snapped shut with a bang when he threw it out of the way, and applied pressure to my leg. Feeling my body go limp, the darkness consumed me.
