Eli:

This last week has been brutal. Between training, my alpha duties, and my princely duties, I feel so wiped out.

"You just need some time with mate, you'll feel better.." Ember tries to sound happy, not annoyed.

I spent the last few days arranging travel for her best friend Jennikah and her mate, Alpha Ben, to be here tonight. It's a big surprise coordinated by Skyler, her parents and I. They said making it a surprise will make her incredibly happy, since I guess she likes surprises.

Just something else I didn't know about my own mate.

I'm also pretty sure she's been avoiding me, but I don't know why.

"Because you act silly around mate. That's ok though, Full moon is coming.." Ember says in my head as I round the corner to my current bedroom right next door to hers.

I haven't been able to sleep on the bottom level at all. I always end up here.

"Em, you know I can't let you see her on the full moon. We will be in the basement with the other unmated males.."

Ember huffs.

I roll my eyes.

The full moon means Ember will be in charge in my human form. The full moon shift begins tomorrow at midnight and the castle is bustling with preparations for it.

To keep everyone safe, we make sure the gates are locked, there's plenty of food, and our mates, as well as the Omegas, have access to any silver necessary to restrain anyone who might become unsafe. This rarely happens, come to think of it, I can only remember one time we had to use the silver chains.

Flash back:

Vik is roaring as he attacks Ember full force knocking him back into the gate again. "Ember so slow today!" He roars again.

"Vik so stupid today!" Ember yells as he slams Vik into the ground, "I win!" He chuckles.

Vik stands up and storms off towards the food table, "Stupid EMBER! I hungry..." He looks around the table frantically, "WAIT! Where BECKETT!" He runs his hands through his hair, his eyes moving around the basement wildly. "EMBER! Where BECKETT?!"

Ember joins Vik at the table, "NO NO NO! BECKETT try to see mate!"

Ember and Vik run towards the back gate of the basement. They're made of silver and no werewolf would dare get close. Ember and Vik roar as they see the lock has been picked.

"BECKETT!!!!!" They scream over and over.

Who knows how much time went by before they heard his loud roar from down the hallway. They carefully peek through the silver gates and see Beckett being dragged by multiple Omega males wearing special gloves. Beckett has on silver cuffs on his wrists and a silver cuff around his neck.

"BECKETT!" Vik shouts concern written all over his face.

Ember's eyes go wild with worry.

The omega men toss him back in the basement with the rest of the unmated male werewolves. Sky's father, Rodrick finally speaks as he wraps more silver chain around the bars to keep everyone back, "Please Beckett, Skyler isn't ready for you yet. Stop fighting this." He carefully unlocks the cuffs around his wrists as he hisses in pain. His own arms sizzling as he grazes the silver chains between him and Beckett. Beckett slashes at Rodrick, his eyes wild as he roars, "MATE!" over and over.
