It was over. Ward was finally caught and Garrett was dead. That meant that I don't have to hide myself anymore, or how I'm feeling. I could finally rest.

I just finished taking a shower and I walked passed the table that Ward and I use to have our long, late night talks at. Tears swell in my eyes and I drop my head as I make my way into my room. I slide my door closed and jump onto my bed. I take my pillow into my arms and rest my chin on it.

I squeeze the pillow and softly cry to myself. "Y/N? Is everything okay?" Skye asks. "Yes, I'm fine. Just please go away." I state softly. "Okay, well you know where to find me if you want to talk." she says before leaving. A few minutes later, I'm still on the bed and May opens my door. I look up at her with teary eyes and she sighs.

She closes the door and sits down next to me. She places a hand on my leg and cry slightly harder. "He was like my brother.. how could he just.. betray us like that." I croak. "His loyalties were elsewhere. You can't blame yourself for that." "I trusted him with my life.. and in the end, he tried to take it."

I move so that I am resting in her lap and she combs her fingers through my hair as I cry into her thighs.

The pain of Ward's betrayal hurt more than I anticipated. And it led to my resignation from SHIELD. I decided to move in the city and live off of the thousands of dollars that I made from drag racing a few years back. Six months in and the only progress that I've made was not gaining much weight because I work out almost every day.

Most of my days go like this. Wake up. Sulk in bed. Eat breakfast. Netflix. Cuddle with my dog. More sulking (this time with ice cream). Eat Linner. Workout. Shower. Repeat.

I rarely leave the house anymore, and quite frankly, it's mainly because I don't want to trust the wrong person again. I sit on my bed and my Rottweiler, Rena, lays across my lap. I gently rub her belly as I watch YOU.

I heard a creak of my wooden floor and Rena perks up her ears. She barks under her breath and I gently rise from the bed. I open my door and Rena runs out as I glow my eyes. I heard a man scream and Rena growling.

"Y/N!" I hear May say. I jump out of my room and say that Rena was growling at Coulson. "Y/N, help!" He yells. "Rena, no! Come here." She looks to me and whines. "Rena," I repeat. She gives Coulson one last bark before returning to my side. I wrap my arms around her and say good girl.

"May, Coulson. What brings you here?" "We need your help on a case. It's-" "Listen, I'm sorry. But when I said that I was out of SHIELD, I meant it." I interrupt. "This involved a boy with the same powers as you. Right now, HYDRA is trying to get him and we need him on our side."

"So you need my help recruiting him?" I ask. "No, he needs your help finding hope that he can have a normal life again. Just like you." Coulson says. "I'll help you only if this doesn't happen again. Especially since Rena doesn't know you." "Noted. Since when did you get that Rottweiler?" "She's a service dog. I got her as soon as I resigned. Needed a companion that I can trust."

"Understandable. So that means she's coming with you on the plane, isn't it?" May asks. "Absolutely," "Alright, then pack a bag for her too." "Ya hear that? You're coming with Mama, gorgeous." I say, causing her nub to wag.
