~ (Y/n)'s POV ~
My phone began basically screaming. I rushed to pull it out of my pocket to see who could have possibly ruined such a sweet moment. As I pulled it out and looked at it my face lit up. I glanced at Robert as if asking if I could answer it and once he nodded at me, I slid the answer button and held the phone up to my ear.
"Hey dad!" I exclaimed as a huge smile grew on my face.
My father's voice blared through the speaker, "Ah! Pumpkin, how is my little girl doing! I miss you so much! Are you having fun! Oh wait are you busy doing something?" In him asking that last question I realized that I was indeed very busy doing something. I was supposed to be helping Robert learn his song.
"Actually dad, I am a bit busy, I'm helping one of the cast members, Robert-"
Before I could even finish my sentence my father screamed, "Robert!? Is that a boy! My baby girl is finally hanging out with a boy! Is he cute, do you like him, does he like you?" My face turned bright red as he blabbered on about if I liked Robert or not. I looked up at Robert and it was clear that he too could hear what my father was going on about. I felt my chest tighten as I listened to my dad and finally I got way too embarrassed to keep the conversation going on.
"Alright dad I think that's enough of that!-"
But he kept going on, "Can that boy hear me, I swear if he hurts you or tries to take advantage of you then I will fly out there and personally hand you a can of whoop ass. You better treat my baby girl like she is a damn princess because that is exactly what she is, do you hear me Robert!" As continued talking, the tension between Robert and I only grew.
Finally, I just shouted into the phone while stuttering, "Alright dad, bye love you, call you later!" And with that I ended the call and shoved my phone back into my pocket. The air in the room was thick enough that you could cut it with a knife. It took a few awkward minutes for me to compose myself and look at Robert who was still bright red in the face.
I apologized, "I am so sorry about my dad, I'm his only daughter and he is very protective of me. It's sometimes too much. I promise it won't happen again." My voice was shaky still, but that apology was better than nothing.
"It's alright, now it makes sense, ya know, knowing you are his only daughter." Robert told me. This calmed my nerves ever so slightly. But thank god we had our own saving grace.
Jeff opened the door and poked his head into the room, "Hey guys, everyone is leaving now, so come on out." And with those words I stood up and looked down at Robert who was still sitting.
"Well, it was really nice working with you Robert, but It seems I gotta go, bye!" I exclaimed as I rushed out. In the process I grabbed Jeff's arm and dragged him along with me. He could tell something was up, but he didn't bother to ask in the moment. As everyone said goodbye for the day, I stood in the back of the theater waiting for Jeff, as soon as I saw Robert I looked down at my feet blushing.
Yet, Jeff walked up to me and we exited the theater. We made our way to the car and I climbed into the passenger side and pulled the buckle over me. Once I knew I was out of that one awkward situation, I let out a sigh of relief. My moment of peace didn't last very long though.
"So what happened between you and Robert back there, I can tell something happened because the both of you were pretty flustered and worked up," Jeff explained as he started driving.
I took in a deep breath and reluctantly told him, "My dad called." That was he needed to hear before he bursted out into a fit of laughter. See, Jeff knows how my dad is because he has always been this way, over protective. Jeff only continued to laugh for the next few minutes as I sat there with my arms crossed giving him a look of pure and utter annoyance.
As he calmed down he finally said some real words, "So, what I am getting from this is that he asked if you like him and basically told Robert that he will kill him if he hurts you?" I grunted a response and this only caused Jeff to return to his laughing fit.
"Come on Jeff, its not even that funny!" I cried out as he pulled into the driveway. I basically jumped out of the car just wanting to escape the embarrassing environment.
He replied with, "You know Robert is 26, single, and a rather handsome fellow. You are 24, also single, and a very attractive young lady." After he said that I lost it. I ran inside the house after letting out a squeal. Once I made it to my room I shut the door and jumped onto my bed. I buried my face into one of the many pillows on my bed and hid until my face felt cold.
As I thought about what Jeff had told me, I got more and more flustered. Robert was attractive and knowing he was single only made me feel more flustered. I screamed into my pillow before turning on my bed and staring up at the ceiling.
"Curse you Jeff," I shouted, which only earned me a laugh from Jeff who was in the next room over. I let out a sigh and pulled the covers over me. I can't believe I am surrounded by a bunch of idiots.
