Granger woke up in bed alone. He heard singing outside his bedroom door.
"Deep in the creek where the woodland spirit comes to reap reap the young boy ran as the deadly creature creeps"
It was only Candice cleaning up the house. Granger stood up out of bed causing the floor to creak.
The singing stopped.
Loud footsteps approached the door as two boys appeared in the doorway. It was Marcus and Harry.
"It's coming for you."
They began to giggle.
"What is?"
The boys stopped laughing before pacing towards Granger."No!"
Granger woke up, Candice rushed in, placing her arm over his shoulder. Granger was pale, breathing heavily, struggling to get out the simplest of words.
Later that day Granger was in his study, checking the autopsy report of the two boys, sent earlier this morning. It was unusual, the boys hadn't been stabbed by a blade but something wooden. A stake maybe, or a sharp stick?
Another unusual aspect was within the report.
The boys hadn't died from their stab wounds. The cause of death was still yet unknown.
Over the next few days, scouts searched the sight of the murder, looking for any wooden object covered in blood. No weapon was found.
The sheriff was losing it, where was the weapon?
A new source came in telling the sheriff of a spirit in the woods. A woodland beast, a myth. The sheriff was up for anything by this point.
He headed up to the library one afternoon and searched around for any books related to woodland spirits in Haven. There was only one book available on a beast by the name of Ga'lor. It was a shot in the dark. Granger brought the book back home. Candice was pacing in the kitchen. Holly was sitting head in her hands. Granger approached her, wrapping his arms around her. "Honey what's wrong? She looked up in tears, her left eye green, bruised. She was silent. Candice was ranting about a fight at school and how other girls had been bullying her for weeks now. It all started with a small prank in the bathroom but overtime got worse and worse. Granger decided to halt the investigation for a brief moment to deal with these affairs.
Leaving the town vulnerable to another attack.
