It was late evening when Rohan and Sid left. After almost an hour, Aditya was finally settled on the couch working on his project. And suddenly it went all dark.Aditya could only frown for half a second because of this untimely power cut when he heard a loud scream.
"What happened? Why are you after my eardrums?" he asked irritated as Charu finally paused for breath.
"Aditya, where are you?" she managed to speak with a trembling voice.
"Why did you scream like that?" he asked trying to move in the direction of her voice.
"Where are you? I can't see anything" she choked on her words and he could swear the large tear - tank behind her eyes was about to leak.
He caught her hand, which she had stretched forward to find him.
"I am here only. Come inside" he said tucking her hand, and she quietly followed him.
He finally reached the living room after asking a servant for the emergency lights. The power cut was rare in their area. In all possibilities, it was because of the rain and thundering since yesterday.
But before they could reach the couch, Charu's feet stumbled on a chair's leg and she fell mostly because of fear and shrieked with a vague idea that some ghost had finally caught hold of her leg. With her own downfall, she caused him to fall with her on the ground.
Before he could make much sense of what had happened, the first thing he did was to shut her screaming mouth with his palm, which was threatening his tympanic membrane.
"Shut up," he scolded, lying over her on the ground. She immediately went quiet and in an abrupt motion hugged him tight.
With her ragged breathing fanning his neck, he slowly removed his hand from her mouth. First, he thought of putting some sense in the paranoid girl's head, but soon realized such a thing was next to impossible.
But as he tried to move up, her hold around his neck grew tighter and refrained him from moving an inch. He was holding his head from completely falling on her, but as a few seconds passed like that, he felt an unfathomable urge of slowly relaxing. Slowly, he dipped his head in her long, thick hair. He could feel his own heart race unusually against her thudding heart. As his face moved closer to her, she felt her nerves relaxing indefinitely.
He had completely forgotten why and where they were. The only reasons clogging his senses were the darkness, her proximity, and his own treacherous thudding heart.
As his hand one hand supported him on the ground, the other one lost its way in her silky black hair, which seemed even darker than the darkness surrounding them. He moved his head a little sideways, to feel the utmost softness of her neck against his face.
Charu confusedly frowned as his cheek slowly grazed against the crook of her neck. What was he exactly doing?
Aditya's senses were literally clogged. He could feel her soft form against his hard chest. He could smell her and she smelled inexplicably pure. . . He didn't budge his face an inch then, fearing the alluring feeling he was experiencing would evaporate by his own touch.
Charu's hold around his neck loosened as the initial wave of fear passed, and she vaguely registered that something was wrong with his movement. But she couldn't pinpoint what.
A little movement from her side was enough to bring him back to reality, but before he could move the lights went on. And he got up in a second as a round of giggles from the servants reached his ear. God! That was embarrassing.
He frowned looking at the servants making them disperse within a second and with a remarkable uncomfortable look forwarded his hand to the confused girl who was still the ground.
