June 13, 6:30 AM

BEEP BEEP BEEP BE-

I slam my hand down on the alarm clock, and roll out of bed. I stayed up way too late last night. 2 AM I think? Anyway, I'm extremely tired. The sun is just peaking over the horizon. I grab some clothes and walk to the bathroom right across from my room. I undress and get in the shower, letting the cool water wake me up.

When I get out of the shower, I grab my towel and dry myself off. Then I dress myself in a pear of jeans, a (F/C) t-shirt and a denim jacket that says Camp Sundance in yellow letters on a pocket. Now I go to wake up my twin Sammy. He collects Nerf guns, so I go over to his display and grab a strong looking green gun and some ammo.

I run out of the room to load and cock the gun. Then I run into his room and shoot him until I have no ammo left. He screams like a little girl while I'm almost peeing my pants of laughter.

"(Y/N)!!! GET BACK HERE!!!" He yells as I run out of his room and down the stairs. I'm still laughing hysterically, rushing to the downstairs bathroom and locking the door. I fall to the floor and try to calm my laughter.

Once I do, I stand up and slowly walk to the door. The shouting had stopped, so I slowly unlock the door. Right as I do, someone barges in and starts shooting me. I scream and the bullets stop. I hear laughter and footsteps.

"Get back here!" I yell, then laugh. Sammy you idiot... While I'm in the bathroom, I grab a hairbrush and start brushing my short hair. It almost doesn't need to be brushed, the (H/C) hair only goes down to my jawline. But I still brush anyway, getting the few tangles out.

Next I brush my teeth and walk out of the bathroom. Sammy is already dressed in a red shirt and jeans with the same denim jacket I'm wearing. I put on my socks and leather boots and grab my backpack yelling, "Sammy! We have to go! It's 7!"

We work for a local summer camp. I don't know why they call it that because there is no actual camping. The camp, Camp Sundance, is for ages 5 to 11, starts at 8 in the morning and ends at 8 at night. It goes Monday through Friday, June through August. We morning councelers have to be there by 7:30 and leave at noon. The evening shift has to be there by 11:30 and leave at 9. Sometimes I cover for the evening councelors, but other than that I'm part of the morning shift.

"Alright, I'm coming!" He yells from the living room. I tap my foot on the floor, holding the keys to our black minivan. Bye mom... I think, but don't tell her in person; I am too scared. She's probably sleeping anyway. I tell myself.

We walk outside and I hop into the driver's seat, while Sammy steps into the passenger's seat. I put the key in and start the engine. I start off, taking the shortcut out of town and to Camp Sundance. I park the car next to the other councelers, near the edge of the forest, and we step out.

"Hey, (Y/N)!" Bradly says. He's another counceler and one of my few friends.

"Hey," I say. We start walking to the main area.

The camp director steps onto a gazebo and clears her throat. "Okay, everyone here? Let's do roll call! Jason?"

She called out a bunch more names, then told us to go to our stations; three people per station. Sammy, Bradly, and I have the swimming station. That's how Bradly and I became friends.

We put up the lifeguard chair and talk about what we are going to do today. "Let's just have a free swim day," I suggest.

"That sounds like fun," Bradly said. "And we can take turns lifeguarding!"

Sammy smiles, "That sounds nice! The kids can consider it a reward for working so hard."

"Agreed!" I say.

"I call being lifeguard first!" Bradly exclaims. I laugh and we go to change. I walk to the girls restroom, and head into one of the stalls. I reach into my backpack and pull out a black wetsuit. I start stripping and getting the wetsuit on.

Why do they make us wear the uniform if we're just going to take it off? Man this place is stupid. At least it pays pretty well. Camp Sundance pays $49.50 per shift, which is four and a half hours for five days. And I often take afternoon shifts, so about $99 two days a week and $49.50 three days a week, I get $346.50 a week! Not to mention Sammy gets paid $247.50 a week. This job is how we still afford food and other necessities along with my mom's addiction.

I finish getting my wetsuit on and put my cloths and shoes in my backpack and put the backpack in my locker. I don't bother putting my hair in a ponytail, though I have an elastic on my wrist. I check the time on the clock in the bathroom. 7:55.

Shoot the kids will be here soon. I run out of the bathroom and to the lake. Bradly is sitting on the lifeguard's chair in his black swim shorts, and Sammy is in the water with his.

"I guess I'll bring the kids over then," I shout. Without listening to their response, I jog towards the entrance road. The kids carpool, so there are like seven or so cars. It confuses me why the camp doesn't invest in busses, then again, I doubt they have enough money.

"Welcome kids!" I hear the camp director say. I never did get her name. I let her drone on about what stations each of the carpools go to. Like always, I get carpools one and five for the morning shift. I'll get carpool three and seven for the afternoon shift. I'm taking over for Marline.

"Alright, kids! Follow me for swimming!" While we walk, I explain to them how they have worked so hard and get to free swim today. They seem giddy with excitement, and they rush to the bathrooms. I walk to the diving boards and climb on the smallest one. I walk to the edge, bounce twice, and jump, moving into a dive. I hear a splash, and then am enveloped in darkness. I don't open my eyes, but kick my legs hard. When I breach the surface, I take a breath. I tread for a bit, then swim over to Sammy.

"You're finally in!" He says. I laugh and nod. I see kids running out of the bathroom, so I swim up to the beach to watch them come in. I wait for all of them to get into the water, then I do a head count to be sure all of them are here. After I count, I swim over to Sammy.

"Hey Sammy, wanna race?" I ask him. He grinns and nods. We start at the deep end, and race towards the shallows, avoiding kids as an extra challenge. I glance up at Bradly, he looks bored. I giggle and keep racing.

Once I reach the shore, Sammy is wating for me. "Haha, you win!" I laugh. Something catches my attention from behind my twin. I glance over and see nothing. Strange...

Sammy notices my staring and looks behind him. I shake my head and say, "I have to use the bathroom..."

He looks confused, but just nods. I rush to the bathroom that's about fifty meters behind him. Instead of going into the bathroom, I go around the small building and into the surrounding forest. I take a second to look around.

Nothing.

I walk further into the forest, minding my bare feet.

Snap.

Thud.
