Emma had almost jumped off the couch when Sean reached for her wrist. "Emma wait."

"Let me go." Her voice was surprisingly low for how panicked she felt on the inside. He worked for the same man that slipped his fingers inside her! Malcolm, of all fucking people! "Sean, you need to let me go."

"Will you at least let me explain before running?" He looked amused as he let her hand go.

She scowled before scooting to the far end of the couch. "Talk then."

The vampire puffed out his cheeks before saying, "Malcolm has weird tastes, Emma, but he isn't one to rape a woman."

"Yeah, right." Emma didn't believe that for a second. "Let me guess, he's a kind man and loves children?"

"No to either of those," he replied bluntly as he stood. "Malcolm is one of the coldest men I've met, but he's not the kind to snatching a woman's rights away."

"You understand why I don't believe the shit that's coming out of your mouth right?" Emma retorted as she crossed her arms.

"No, but- fuck, hang on." Sean pulled out his vibrating phone and answered it. "Dean. No, I'm free. Today?" Sean raised an eyebrow. "That's fucking sudden isn't it?" He then sighed. "Alright, I'll be there soon." He hung up and glanced at Emma. "I guess I get to deal with Lover Boy again today. A meeting's been called."

Lover Boy? "Do you mean Draco?" she asked.

Sean sighed loudly and raked his hair. "Unless you have another hot mess lying around here, yes I mean him. Sit tight and let me-"

"No, let me come with," she decided as she stood up.

Sean eyed her warily. "No offense, Emma, but I don't need an emotionally charged woman walking into a business meeting among vampires."

"I'll behave," she promised, "I-I just need to see Malcolm myself. It isn't that I don't trust you, but I need to hear it from him." The vampire stared at her for a long minute with intense eyes, enough to make her feel shifty. Just when she thought he was going to say no, the vampire relented and waved his hand around.

"Get yourself fixed up. You have five minutes."

Emma visibly brightened before grabbing her purse and running to the guestroom. "Give me just a second!" She shut the door and quickly put makeup on simply because she could, but the real reason why she wanted to go was because she needed to change and she'd left her bag of clothes in there.

She grabbed a black dress that drooped past her knees and covered most of her bust before tying her hair into a loose ponytail. 'I'll have to braid it later,' she decided, slipping on her black flats before coming back out. "I'm ready!" She called out, slipping her purse over her shoulder.

Sean had shrugged his jacket back on, taking a double glance at her before snorting. "You dress fast."

"I try," she replied with a smirk on her face. "Shall we?"

"God, you sound like an old woman," he drawled, opening the door for her. "Ladies first."

"Thanks old man," Emma bit back playfully walking out the door. Oddly enough, despite just coming to terms with the fact that vampires existed, she felt pretty average all things considered. Sure, it was kinda terrifying that vampires were running around like it was an average day, but as she'd seen prior, they were almost no different than humans.

The only thing that still bothered her was that Sean worked for Malcolm. She didn't think Sean would outright hurt her; he did save her twice after all. It still made for unwelcome tension though. She glanced at him as she walked, deciding that she'd watch him carefully before making any decisions about him.
