Why Pick Me?

Chapter 7

We where one of the first ones to the BBQ. Jack wasn't there yet and I'm getting really worried. "Austin? Do you know where Jack is?" I said to Austin Charlile.

"No sugar. Sorry." I wanted to look for him but then I saw the guys, Alex, Zack, Rian, Dan, Christian, and Jack. I ran up to Jack and hugged him.

"Where have you been I haven't seen you all day." I said not letting go. He was wearing his black Boner shirt with jean shorts.

"I went to get you this." He said showing me a single lavender rose. "I looked it up, the purple rose means like is a symbol of 'falling in love'." I hugged him again trying not to squish the rose. We walked over to the food luckily there was a lot tonight other wise it would have been gone by now. Everyone was here, Vic, Kellin, Austin, Alan, Justin, Cass, Juliet, and a few others I haven't met yet. Everything seemed great, Sarah sat with Christian, Dan sat with Cass, and I sat with Jack.

Cass and Dan weren't to close but not to faraway. There was a bang and I saw Dan on the ground. I screamed, and so did everyone else. Cass ran over to him when there was another bang. It hit me. I screamed as someone grabbed my right hand. It wasn't Jack or anyone I knew. "Everyone on the ground or she gets it!!" A deep voiced man said pointing the gun at my head. I was crying. Then I saw Jack get up.

"Now now we don't need to shoot anymore people." He said trying to calm the guy down. That's when the man twisted my wrist. I screamed in more pain.

"You get on the ground or she gets one less hand!!" Jack didn't move. There was another bang and Jack fell on the ground. I screamed and kicked the guy holding me. Alex, Zack, Rian, Kellin, Vic, and Justin went after the man. I ran over to Jack crying, I could barely see. I was screaming Jack's name so he would stay awake. I was crying into his chest holding his wound. There where people in gloves pulling me away from him but I refused. I was screaming his name as people took Jack into another ambulance. The paramedic's had to strap me down so I wouldn't run to Jack. The paramedic's kept telling me to keep my eyes open. I couldn't I was crying so much. They wouldn't stop talking to me, asking me questions about my family and why I was a warped.

I think I blacked out because when I woke up I was in a white room. I heard someone crying so I turned over to my left to my mother with her face in her hands. "Mom?" I said slowly. She looked over and her face lit up.

"Yes, Madi bear bear?" She said grabbing my hand. 'Madi bear bear' was something my mom use to call me.

"Where am I?" I said weakly. I looked over to my left to see Alex. "Alex, why are you here? Shouldn't you be with Jack?"

"I am. He's in the same room as you." I tried to get up on my elbow and saw the other bed. Jack was in it. He was still asleep. "The paramedic's said that you wouldn't stop saying his name until you fell asleep. So they asked the doctor to put you two in the same room." His hair was messy; I'm guessing mine is too.

"What happened to the guy that attacked?" I asked looking back over to Alex.

"Me, Zack, Rian, Vic, and Kellin tried to take him down. We did, and you can press charges if you want." Alex said.

"I want to, but I'm not going to."

"What?!" My mother said. She always over protected me.

"I don't want publicity clearly with Jack being shot too he's going to want to press charges too. I don't want him to and I don't want to." I said laying back down with a flinch. "Mom, will you get the doctor my shoulder hurts?" She nodded and left. Then Sarah came in with Christian.
