-4 days earlier-

I look across the wide vast ocean, the gin clear water making it too easy to see the fish. After I won the 65th hunger games I was moved to the victor's village in district four, the houses there look like giant beach huts, with sand covered front gardens and timber panels. My house is littered with shells that Annie and I collected yesterday. I step back from the window and go to my shower, I still can't get over the luxury of hot water at the click of a button, I had my shower custom made to be like the one we had in the training centre, I select the deep wash with a clean linen smell. I personally prefer the smell of the sea, the crisp and salty odour but Annie likes this so I use it for her. Once I had finished I dried and put on a white top and khaki shorts and head downstairs for breakfast.

Annie is already up and has cooked breakfast, a bagel with smoked salmon and a glass of ice cold water. She came to live with me after she won her own games, we knew one another before but it was only after her games did I feel like she really meant something to me. I sneak up behind her and wrap my hands over her eyes" guess who" I say, she replies "good morning Finnick, did you sleep well?" I pause to think for a moment and respond with "yes I did thank how were you, after the incident?" I can't say nightmares anymore, it upsets her to bad" fine I went virtually right back to sleep" I know she is lying but I don't push anymore.

We head to the dining table and sit, " so Annie what do you want to do today" I ask. she replied " I don't know, I suppose we could got down the beach" I quickly say "oh yes that would be nice, we could, if you like, go to town and buy a tent, so then we can sleep in it at the field?" She and i both love the beach so I doubt she would say no." yes of course, Finnick I would love too, can we bring a picnic as well?" I question why she even had to ask. She chuckles and says" I know but its always nice to ask." I suggest that I go to town and get the tent, whilst she gets the picnic ready. She agrees and we finish our food and part ways.

The town is small but always busy, but only with the very young and old, all the capable, strong people are off catching fish and harvesting from the sea, lately a lot of the food has been going to the capitol, probably because this year's victor was from district four. He had an unusual name but I can't remember it. I walk up to maggs, my old mentor, who directs me to where i can get a strong waterproof tent. The woman selling the tents is old, about sixty-sixty five, curly brown hair with a grey streak like the wife of the monster made out of other peoples' bodies, that story was told to us by our teacher in school, it was written before the dark days.

She smiles as I approach "Hello there are you looking for anything in particular?" Her eyes are a deep blue, I could almost fall into them but I pull back and reply "Hi, yes have you got a waterproof tent and some sort of padding that can go inside for more comfort ?" She turns as she talks" I believe we have one left its only red but I'm sure the colour won't mind?" "No that's not a problem." She dragged a large plastic packed bag with her and heaved as she picked it up and put it on the desk top. "How much do I owe you?" I ask. "Well if I could get an auto graph then you won't owe me anything." she slides a piece of paper and a pencil over. I make my mark on the paper and slide it back. "Oh thank you my son will love this, it will be great encouragement for the next reaping."

Then it hits me, I'm famous but it's because I was brutal murderer in the games, not for catching the most fish for our district or sneaking more food that what we are allowed to take and giving it to the sick, no for being a ruthless killing machine. I want to rip up the signature but I can't I walk away head held low.
