Chapter Forty~Sky High

I put on my gloves and boots straightening my suit as we listen on the jet to the plan "No way we all get through this. If even one tin soldier is left standing, we've lost. It's gonna be blood on the floor." says Tony.

"I got no plans tomorrow night," says Steve.

"I'll take the big guy. Spirit's the one he's waiting for." I say.

"That's true, he hates you the most." says the man "Thanks, Vis." I say, he stops and I turn to him "Well you're a Vision so I thought it would be a good name." he smiles "Vision, I like it."

"Ultron knows we're coming. Odds are we'll be riding into heavy fire, and that's what we signed up for. But the people of Sokovia, they didn't. So our priority is getting them out. All they want is to live their lives in peace, and that's not going to happen today. But we can do our best to protect them. And we can get the job done, and find out what Ultron's been building. We find Romanoff, and we clear the field. Keep the fight between us. Ultron thinks we're monsters and we're what's wrong with the world. This isn't just about beating him. It's about whether he's right." finishes Steve opening the back of the jet.

I walk to the edge and turn back to the others a hand wrapped around my necklace "Cya down there."

I take a breath and look out over the city putting on my mask "God Loki help me." I say and jumps out activating my boots and fly out "Hey Fri where is he?" I ask "he's in the church, boss. I think he's waiting for you." says F.R.I.D.A.Y. another AI.

I land in a broken-down church and look around "Come to confess your sins?" ask a voice, I turn around to see Ultron in a new and improved body "I don't know, how much time you got?" I ask.

"More than you."

"Have you been juicing? A little Vibranium cocktail? You're looking, I don't wanna say, puffy..."

"You're stalling to protect the people."

"Well, that is the mission. Did you forget?"

"I've moved beyond your mission. I'm free to remember. There are no strings on me." suddenly the Vibranium core he's placed beneath the floor erupts above ground, I step back, it was a lever "What, you think you're the only one stalling?"

"There's the rest of the Vibranium. Function: still unclear," says F.R.I.D.A.Y.

"This is how you end, Illisha. This is peace in my time," says Ultron, I hear and explosion and turn to see an army of robots who start attacking the city as everyone is evacuating. Just then I get blasted away by Ultron. 

I stand and Ultron gets ready for another blast, I spin in place disappearing and making a decoy appear in a different spot. Over and over he blasted and over and over I made decoys "Vis I'm in the church I don't know how long I can keep this-"

I get blasted back into a wall, how did he know? How did he find me? "I've studied your tricks, must say Loki had taught you many things, but in the end, he was a fool for letting you get to him," says Ultron, okay now I was pissed! I begin to stand up charging my glove "Leave...Loki...OUT OF THIS!!!" I shout blasting him back.

Just in time too, as Vision flies down and lands between us "Go protect the people." he says, I nod "Go be an Avenger." I say and take off into the sky surveying the city. "He's burning Ultron out of the net, he won't escape through there," says F.R.I.D.A.Y. I smile and begin to fly down to the city only for it to come up to me.

Ultron activated the Vibranium core and the earth around Sokovia starts to shake and break "F.R.I.D.A.Y.?" I ask.

"Sokovia's going for a ride." 

And it was, it was being lifted into the air and people were still down there. I land in a populated area where people are running out next to Clint, I turn around to see Wanda running back with two children and their mother, a rock was about to fall on them.

"Get these people out here!" I shout as Clint takes the kids and their mother, just then me and Wanda are blasted through a wall into a building. I blast the bot that pushed us and turn around to see Wanda starting to break down "How could I let this happen?"

"Hey, hey, you okay?" I ask kneeling next to her.

"This is all our fault."

"Hey, look at me. It's your fault, my fault, it's everyone's fault, who cares. Are you up for this?" I ask she looks at me "Are you? Look, I just need to know, cause the city is flying, we're fighting an army of robots, and I defense most the time, heck Clint's fighting with a bow and arrow. None of this makes sense. But I'm going back out there because it's my job. Okay? And I can't do my job and be here." I say standing.

"It doesn't matter what you did, or what you were." I say and stop to take my own advice "If you go out there, you fight, and you fight to kill. Stay in here, you're good, I'll send your brother to come to find you, but if you step out that door, you're an Avenger."

I hold out my hand "So what do say we both make up for our mistake and kick Ultron's titanium ass."

Wanda smiles and takes my hand, the two of us run out as Wanda uses her powers to rip them apart while I use mine so they can't touch us. The two of us run to the edge where we see Steve and Nat who have finished up there job. I look in the sky to see Tony fly around.

"What you got, Tony?" I ask.

"Well, nothing great. Maybe a way to blow up the city. That'll keep it from impacting the surface if you guys can get clear."

"Tony we asked for a solution, not an escape plan," I say, Steve and the others look to me worried "Impact radius is getting bigger every second. We're going to have to make a choice." says Tony.

I sigh and turn to Steve "Cap, these people are going nowhere. If Tony finds a way to blow this rock..."

"Not 'til everyone's safe."

"Everyone up here versus everyone down there? There's no math there," says Nat.

"I'm not leaving this rock with one civilian on it."

"I didn't say we should leave." I say, the two turn to me "There are worse ways to go. Where else am I gonna get a view like this?" I ask looking out clutching my necklace.

"Glad you like the view, Stark. It's about to get better." says a voice through our earpieces, from out of clouds rises the old Helicarrier from S.H.I.E.L.D.

"Nice, right? I pulled her out of mothballs with a couple of old friends. She's dusty, but she'll do." says Fury.

"Fury, you son of a bitch," I say with a big smile.

"Oooh! Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?" "Langue!" says Steve and Fury, me and Nat chuckle. We watch the lifeboats fly in towards us "This is S.H.I.E.L.D?" ask Pietro running up.

"What S.H.I.E.L.D.'s supposed to be," I say smiling at him.

"This is not so bad."

We all face Steve ready for our next order, we look to the people who also cower inside the buildings "Let's load 'em up."
