Look who finally updated! Lol. I know I've been saying I'd update, but I've been so busy that I haven't had anytime to focus on writing. Regardless, I'm going to try harder. Anywayyys, I know this is short, but something is better than nothing right? Happy (late) Thanksgiving and enjoy the chapter guys! :)

Chapter 3

At supper that evening, I told Mr. Henderson about the text messages I had received at school.

"Let me check you phone after dinner. I'll see if I can track this person down." He said to me.

When I gave him the phone, he didn't treat this as big of a threat as I thought he would. I mean, this person knew my real identity!

He wrote down the number and said, "I'll call my tech to see if he knows this number, okay?"

Since when did he have a tech? I wanted to ask, but instead, I nodded.

"Mr. Henderson?" I called, remembering I had promised Emily that I would ask about the carnival. "There's a carnival tomorrow night and I'd like to go. Do you think that'd be okay?"

He hesitated for a second before answering. "I don't know. You'd need someone go with you."

"Emily would be going."

"I'll have to think about it. I'll give you an answer tomorrow morning."

Before I could tell him that nothing would happen to me, Mr. Henderson's phone rang. When he looked at the Caller ID, he frowned.

"Who is it?" I asked, curiousity getting the best of me.

"No one," He answered a bit too quickly, "But I'm going to have to take this."

I had a feeling that wasn't the case, but let it go.

He left to his office and locked the door behind him. He never locked the door; he always said that if the door was locked, he wouldn't be able to get to me fast enough in emergency.

Again, curiosity got the best of me. I walk to the door of the office and press my ear against it, trying to listen to the conversation.

"I need you to track a person that's been sending messages to Anastasia's phone."

Was that the tech guy he mentioned? Why was he calling at this time anyways?

"I had a feeling it was you. I thought I told you not to make any contact with the princess unless it was absolutely necessary."

Now I was even more curious. He knew who was texting me? Who was this person? Why wasn't he allowed to make contact with me?

"I see."

"No, no, that's all, I believe." He paused like he remembered something. "Hold on. Will you be attending the carnival tomorrow evening?"

Wait. Why did that matter?

"Good, and you'll keep an eye on her?"

"I know, but I can't help but worry about her." He paused again, letting the person on the other end reply. "Goodnight to you as well."

I quickly walked back to my room. My mind was plagued with questions. I wanted to know who the person on the other side of the line was. Maybe I could catch the person tomorrow at the carnival.

After my mind settled down a bit, it dawned on me that I would be going to the carnival since this guy, who I was now assuming was my far guard, was also going. I texted Emily saying I could go, and the two of us spend the rest of the night sharing our excitement for it.
