A Glow From A Shadow

Introduction

~Before Maria's Death~

The sun glares onto the Earth as a space station lays in its wait of warmth. Glazing upon the sunlight as 2 hedgehogs stand side-by-side. Their bodies almost touching. Looking upon the Earth as a metal door open up. Both look behind them to see a young 5 year old girl with blonde hair run in while wearing a blue dress. Her blonde hair bounce as she runs up to the hedgehogs.

One of the hedgehogs was black with red strips while having white fur underneath his chin. He has boots that are like boosters. He has gloves with rings wrapped around his wrists. His red shot eyes looks at the young girl as he looks at the other hedgehog was a woman version.

This hedgehog was white with cosmic blue strips wrapped around the edges of her hair. Her light blue gentle eyes smiling as she wears a blue scarf that is wrapped around her throat as she wears a long sleeved belly revealing black shirt. The shirt has blue neon lines going down the middle front of the shirt. She is wearing black shorts with blue neon lights going down the sides as her small white gloves lays on her waist. Her boots are black with blue neon lights going down the center. 

The male hedgehog looks down at the young blonde haired girl as she hugs him.

"You have a favorite."

The male hedgehog looks at the female hedgehog, "I am not anyone's favorite."

"Can't fool me, Shadow."

Shadow looks at the female hedgehog before him. His red eyes looks into her blue eyes as they spell out happiness and trouble. He looks back down at the young blonde haired girl before looking up to see the young girl's grandfather, Gerald Robotnik.

He walked up to them, "Maria. Shadow. Glow. Nice to see all of you in the same place."

Maria hides behind Shadow with a smile as Glow and Shadow looks at Gerald Robotnik.

Shadow crosses his arms, "What is it this time?"

Robotnik has his arms behind his back and was looking down, "We have made a new machine. A machine that might be able to travel through dimensions."

Glow's eyes lit up with stars, "Awesome! Is it useable?!"

Robotnik doesn't say anything before looking at Glow, "We are needing to test it and we were wondering if you don't mind being the test subject for this machine, Glow."

Glow smiled wide before looking at Shadow with a bigger smile.

Shadow looks at Glow with a half worry look. Her smile gives him some sort of worry before looking away. Not sure if the being the test subject is a good idea or not. Knowing how some of the machines in this facility doesn't always want to work.

Glow spoke which caused Shadow to be broken out of his trace of thought, "When do I begin testing this machine?"

Robotnik begins to walk to out of the room, "It starts in 5 minutes. Better get ready."

Glow turns to Shadow as Maria begins to follow her grandfather out of the room. Both look at each other before Glow boops Shadow's nose.

She gives him a half warm smile, "I know what your thinking. What happens if the machine doesn't work?"

Shadow turns away, trying not to blush, "Shut up."

Glow closes her eyes and smiles wider, "Don't worry about what happens to me. Just keep on protecting Maria, she needs you a lot because you give her joy."

Shadow doesn't look at her as she gets up closer to Shadow. Glow is underneath Shadow's chin, "Awe~ What's wrong with the little Shadow mister~?"

Shadow looks down at Glow while trying to hide his blush as he jumps away, "Don't you dare do that you fucking woman!!!!" (Forgot to tell you guys that there will be cursing)

Glow starts to laugh as she heads out of the room, "See yah at the testing room!!"

Shadow watches her leave the room as he stands there by himself. He looks out the window onto the Earth before going into the room where he can watch the test go down. Once he arrived, he saw Maria waving at him. He walks over to her and sits down next to her as she sits next to him with her eyes full of joy.

Shadow knew that Maria enjoys seeing Glow test new machines was the best of the testing since Glow made it look "cool" in Maria's eyes. He watches Glow go into a capsule. The glass door seals shut as she turns around to smile widely at Maria and Shadow.

Maria pumps her arms into the air, "You can do it Glow!!!"

Glow smiles even wider as Shadow narrows his eyes. He doesn't trust this new machine. It doesn't seem right nor does the air feel safe.

Robotnik walks over to a control panel and looks at Glow. She was ready to test out the machine. He looks down a panel of buttons and pressed some which caused the machine to turn on and start to faintly light up behind Glow. The machine soon started to crack as Shadow immediately gets up from his chair as Maria screams out Glow's name.

Shadow runs over to the door and tries to get it open, but couldn't. It was locked from the outside. Robotnik exits the room while looking down. His glasses have the light from the ceiling glaring on it. He opened the door to the room and looked down to see Shadow and Maria watching the machine explode with Glow inside of it.

Robotnik looks at one of his helpers, "Project Glow is no longer in effect. Her vitals might already be destroyed."

Maria runs over to Robotnik and starts pounding onto his leg, "Why do you have to do this?! Why grandpa?! She was one of the greatest creations that you ever had in this ship!!"

Shadow runs over to the door and kicks it down before going inside of the room that was now on fire. He looks everywhere for Glow, but no sign of her were shown. He threw pieces that weren't on fire to the side and searched everywhere before he turns to look at Robotnik who looked at Shadow with a smile growing on his face.

"But let Project Shadow begin..."
