It's spring time and you've won tickets to an entertainment festival at a prestigious countryside resort. The dress code is fancy, the guest list elite. The prospects of mingling with all manner of celebrities and entertainers are high. You're buzzing with excitement as you pack your bags.
...
You arrived last night with your sister, and today you're out enjoying the festivities. The morning is largely occupied by an opening concert, after which you spend some time reviewing the event schedule for the weekend, marking interesting listings with checks and stars. You notice that on the final day of the festival there's a sneak preview screening of a new show that you're dying to see. Circling it enthusiastically, you resolve to get a good seat somehow. At lunchtime you attend a party in a sunny garden surrounded by tall sculpted hedges. The refreshment table is decorated with beautiful white and pastel floral arrangements that your eyes linger on as you collect a glass of punch for yourself. In your distraction, you bump into a stranger who is also looking for a drink. He laughs brightly, his shoulders drawing up, as he quickly reaches out and steadies your hand to keep you from spilling. Handsome and sharply dressed, he gives off a generally expensive air that makes you think he must actually be on the guest list, unlike you. If you're not mistaken, he may have been part of the opening concert. You mumble an apology and hurry away in embarrassment. He tilts his head in curious confusion as he watches you retreat, then shrugs and wanders back into the crowd.
...
Over the course of the next two days you run into each other several more times at various events. Apparently you have quite similar tastes and interests. He introduces himself as Hoseok, and his friendly demeanor and contagious way of laughing make it easy to forget your initial embarrassment. You find yourself beginning to enjoy his company more than you'd like to admit.
"Are you going to the premier screening tonight?" He asks."Actually I really want to, I'm so curious about that show! But tickets were impossible to get" you reply regretfully.
"Oh, why don't you come with me then? I was going to drag a friend along but he's not that interested."
"Really?!" You blurt in excitement.
"Yeah, it'll be more fun with someone who'll appreciate it anyway. Meet you there?"
"Yes! Thank you, that's amazing," you reply earning one of the bright smiles you've become fond of.
As you go your separate ways for the afternoon, your sister gives you a disapproving look.
"You shouldn't keep encouraging him you know," she scolds."You know it's not like that," you assure her, "he's nice, we're friends."
Neither of you are fully convinced.
...
That evening you arrive early to the small room reserved for the premier and join the crowd milling around outside it. A man you've seen around a few times but haven't spoken to much approaches you in an overly familiar manner. He seems nice enough, but somehow you get a bad feeling from him and his determination to stick by your side. You're relieved when Hoseok arrives and lightens the mood of the conversation you've found yourself stuck in.The doors opens revealing the small room that has been set up as a movie theater. Cushioned folding chairs are packed in tight rows facing a rolled down projector screen. You grip onto Hoseok's sleeve to keep from losing him as the crowd presses into the room. He leads you to some seats in the fourth row, and you're startled when you hear the voice of the unwelcomed man from the crowd say, "Thought I was going to lose you for a second there," from the other side of you. He settles down next to you a little too comfortably for the closeness of the seats. When you feel his leg pressed against yours you instinctively shrink to the left. Hoseok glances at you in surprise as you suddenly lean against him, but then smiles and rests his arm on the back of your seat, leaving more room for you and lending you a sense of comfort. As the lights dim you relax a bit and sink into his side, staying that way for the duration of the show.
...
When the show ends you exit the the theater together in a good mood. To your relief, the other man seems to have taken a hint and stops trying to follow you.Hoseok leads you back to the garden which has now been set up as a lounge area where a live band is playing soft music. Each corner of the yard hosts an L-shaped couch and a low table so you claim an unoccupied corner to spend some time discussing your thoughts on the show. You chat happily over a few drinks as the night wears on until he cracks some especially bad joke causing you to laugh and playfully shove at his chest. When he catches your hand and holds it there you quickly become aware of how close to him you've been sitting all evening.
Your laughter fades as you look at your hands clasped against his shirt which looks so white in the moonlight. The first two buttons are undone granting you a glimpse of sharp collar bones. Your eyes travel up from your hand in his and find his eyes locked on you in a way that makes your heart begin to pound. He starts to move in towards you but hesistates when you lean back slightly. You stay that way for a moment, him hovering over you, waiting to see what you'll do as your mind races. You stare back at him, taking in the way his hair gently sways around his eyes in the breeze, and can't seem to think of a reason that you don't want this. You give the faintest nod and close your eyes.
In the next moment you feel his mouth on yours as he moves your hand from his chest to the back of his neck. Confident now, he slides you back into the corner of the couch and presses in closer, one hand gripping the back of the couch, the other your waist as he continues to kiss you slowly. You scratch gently at the nape of his neck earning a low sound of approval from him so you thread your fingers up into his hair. He breaks from the kiss, momentarily leaning his head back into your hand enjoying the feeling, then ducks back in towards your neck. His cheek is warm and soft against yours as he brushes past. You inhale sharply as he traces the edge of your ear with his lip before finding his target just below your jaw. Your eyes fly open as you remember you are outside in a public place and you turn your head towards the center of the yard afraid you'll find you've attracted an audience. You don't have much time to process the thought though, as Hoseok takes advantage of the increased access to your neck that the action granted.
"Wait-" you manage to breathe out. He pauses but doesn't really move from his position, breath warm at the crook of your neck.
"Somewhere..... private?" He asks knowingly around one more purposeful kiss to the space right above your collarbone.
He sits back, smiling affectionately at your flushed cheeks before standing and extending a hand to help you up. With a heavy exhale you run your own hand over your neck, skin sensitive from his touch, before reaching out and placing it in his as you let him lead you one last time to your final destination for the night.
*******(A/N) So this was originally going to end right here because I woke up so... this is where it ended. I hadn't planned on writing more but I've been encouraged enough to give it a shot. I don't know where it's going. Maybe still nowhere. But it could be fun. Say hi if you're into it.
Thanks for reading. Sweet dreams.
